2021-11-25 17:50:29 +0000 UTCThe old woman in the bed is Hazel Hill. She's the sister of the tall man William, who married Poppy. Poppy and Hazel both had kids who died in the house. Died accidentally or were murdered. Poppy and Hazel both grew old in the house (Clara Dudley took care of Hazel and knew old Poppy as well). They blamed each other for the deaths of their children. All the other had Hills died mysteriously. The Hill family: - Jacob Hill had the house built. His wife died on the property just before the house was finished. Jacob slipped (?) from the tower and died. - Hazel and William are their kids. William died behind the wall. (I wonder whether he really was clinically insane or if the house just drove him to that point. The house is probably the reason he walled himself in and then regretted it. Maybe he was snapping in and out of like Olivia?) - Hazel died of old age much later. She was also the one behind the bootlegging operation. - Hazel's son Edward died in the bootlegging cellar, he apparently was burnt alive (the corpse that Luke saw). - Jacqueline's (Hazel's daughter according to Clara) body was found in the basement buried in the cement. She fell or was pushed. - Poppy died of old age. Her son had polio and was in a wheelchair, banging on the walls. - William Hill had an affair with Mr. Dudley's mother who worked at the house. Horace himself was the result, he was born there. In Eulogy he told how later his mom started acting scattered, running in the woods "giggling like a schoolgirl in love". She died at the house too.

2021-11-15 14:42:01 +0000 UTC"Fear and guilt are sisters. I knew a man once who knew those sisters well. They kissed his eyelids as he slept, and every morning he went just a little more mad. He built a wall to keep it all outside, but those two sisters, they were in there with him. Even there. That silly man thought his wall would keep them out, but there was just enough room for him... And them. So he was trapped behind that wall. Afraid and guilty. And his voice left him and he scratched and whimpered, and his fingers were shredded on his own bricks until his scratches just sounded like... rats in a wall. He felt small. So small. But that was his dream. And when he woke up, he was tall. So tall. For always." - Trish about William

2021-11-15 14:38:16 +0000 UTC- Hill House is the "bad guy". It was the reason for mom's migraines and dreams. Poppy just used that and yes she is the other bad guy. She's clinically insane as we know. - In previous episodes, there's many times that one of the characters said "I'll be in my reading room" and another character said "the what room?" or "which one's the reading room?". It was always the same room, the red room. There's no extra rooms in the house, they never realized they were inside the red room. The house played with their minds like that. - Horace and Clara's first child died before it was born, probably while Clara was on the property - The kids' abilities including Theo's aren't in their heads. Theo just came to terms with it and stopped fearing it. - David noticed that in Theo's red room dream, the story Trish was telling was about William Hill, the tall ghost. - The poem Poppy cited is just a nursery rhyme I'm pretty sure. Not referring to actual people who died there, probably. I read somewhere it might be based on a real life murder though. And I think it was in the original Hill House book by Shirley Jackson (who Shirley is named after). I also had mixed feelings about the finale, because I expected it to be something else. But I do love it now, and love the story as a whole.

2021-11-15 14:36:59 +0000 UTCWatching the show again definitely helped me pick up on things I missed the first time watching and made it more enjoyable in my opinion. This show really just drops little hints and stuff that like for the viewer to put together and figure out on their own which is cool. It would also be cool to see you guys react to the hidden ghost video cause there are so many that I can't believe I missed while watching the show but even if you don't react to it I would still recommend watching it whenever you can.

2021-11-14 11:50:20 +0000 UTCHill House is the villain of the story. Olivia is definitely a victim of it all. She was manipulated by the house and poppy. I really love the ending personally. Mike Flanagan changed the supposed sad ending with all of them died and are doomed to be in the red room forever. But mike felt it was too cruel so he changed it. And I'm so glad he did! I watched too much horror with a sad twisted ending, and it felt like a breath of fresh air with this change. Hugh sacrificing himself to save his kids are more than enough sadness for me to handle lol π₯²ππ I'm surprised that you thought Witness Marks is your least fav. I think it's one of the mind blowing episode of the season with all the pieces coming together. Please check out the hidden ghosts on yt from the other eps! Don't have to do a reaction for it, just watch it at your own time! You'll be surprised at how much you missed alot!

2021-11-14 11:39:38 +0000 UTCThe red room theory isn't only a theory. Mike Flanagan revealed that was originally going to be the sad twist at the end, but they decided not to do it. He felt it was too grim and wanted a more happy ending. But it was like that at first, the same narrow window is there behind them, but they ended up covering it with a picture. In all of the siblings' red room "dreams", there was something red (the pill, clothing, Trish's lingerie) implying that they were still in the red room. In that scene where they're celebrating Luke's 2 year anniversary, the cake has red frosting.

2021-11-14 04:02:59 +0000 UTCGod, Mr Dudley carrying his wife to Hill House so she would die there and then seeing her woken up, with their baby and Abigail...that makes me SOB every.single.time. I'd imagine Mr Dudley would just stay there after he buried his wife on the grounds for the rest of his days so that he can be rest assured he'd die there too. As for Theo, it's not in her head, but I think she just accepted who she is and isn't scared of her gifts anymore. And Mom wasn't really the bad guy. The house itself is the bad guy. Mom is just confused. She still thinks the world outside is evil and she wants her kids to be there with her, safe and sound. The Red Room reveal was VERY cool. I didn't suspect it. There's a theory that Luke actually did die in the Red Room and everyone else did too and their happy future is a fantasy the house kept them in. I'm sure someone has debunked this theory which is good cuz that's just too sad. If you think about it, Nell's story is the saddest. She spent her whole life haunted by her own death, terrified by what she thought was a ghost, and now in death, she will never be reunited with her husband or her twin or the rest of her family. She's stuck there with her parents, all 3 just forever bound as spirits. Poppy's convo probably has meaning like everything in this show does but I'm gonna just say that she's nuts and go with it. Mr and Mrs Dudley finding Abigail dead was so sad. I think because they already knew and accepted the supernatural, they weren't as freaked to see ghost Abby. And Hugh couldn't turn down their request - his wife killed their kid. She might have been driven insane by the house, but seriously. It was still her. And the Red Room is COVERED in black mold. Only Hugh never really spent any time in there while everyone else spent HOURS every day for weeks in the Red Room. It had to have been a factor in their hallucinations in the house, right!?!? Also, Poppy had always been insane, even in life. My takeaway from it is that the house is the main villain. When Poppy died, she was just insane enough to egg on the people in the house until they too went crazy but it was really the house itself. Poppy was just an accomplice.

2021-11-14 04:01:31 +0000 UTCI find the ending is pretty hit or miss for some people, for some its the most mind blowing thing ever, for others its sort of like how you felt Steven. I will say, my interpretation of it is, that none of the ghosts are inherently *the bad guy* but the house its self seems like it is an entity, like some kind of otherworldly eldritch thing that inhabits this house and is able to manipulate time in order to prey on the fears and insecurities of those inside it. The ones it kills, remain trapped there as an essence that it feeds off of for ever. I think Poppy thrives there due to her unhinged and is probably one of the spirits the house relies on the most to claim more, but I think the house turns people into their worst fears and insecurities, so olivia became bad because she was desperate to keep her kids *safe* ultimately the fact that the ending never really explains any of it and leaves it for the viewer to fill in the blanks, either hits home for people or leaves them wanting more, so it's fair to feel how you feel. I really do hope you too watch Bly Manor and Midnight mass as well. Bly manor is my favorite of the three, its very different from hill house and midnight mass is different from them too.

2021-11-14 03:27:51 +0000 UTCPersonally I really love the finale, its heartbreaking and beautiful. I love Nell's confetti speech it always makes me sob, she loved them so much and saved them. The Abigail stuff was super sad as well and I loved Dad's ending. The family finally finding peace within themselves and mending their relationships was awesome to see. I really hope you guys watch Bly Manor as well, its incredible!
