This was a comedy episode, and I while I agree the villians aren't the best I do enjoy when Smallville decides to be playful. Tom Welling's facial expressions are always hilarious. Later in Season 4 there's another comedy episode which I hope you'll enjoy more. In regards to Lois, she pops in and out during the next couple of seasons. If I recall correctly, Warner Bros was planning on releasing a new Superman movie "Superman Returns" and they had concerns that there would be confusion by fans between the Superman Movie universe/timeline vs the Smallville universe/timeline. This is of course, quite dumb, but Studio executives don't really understand that comic heros can have alternative timelines and fans are used to this. This resulted in Lois only being greenlit for a limited number of episodes per season as the WB wasn't sure how the Superman movie would spawn sequels (which it didn't, as it didnt' do well at the box office). But nice side effect is that the show could take it's time with the characters of smallville and let them grow and change more naturally.

2021-11-17 19:18:24 +0000 UTCI want to know what goes thru Steven's head when he thinks about "the Superman story" because I guarantee his idea of what it "should be" doesn't exist nor has ever existed. Superman is constantly being reimagined and rebooted. Superman couldn't even fly when he was first created. He could just "leap tall buildings in a single bound". Steven has admitted that he's only seen Man of Steel, and even then Clark and Lois don't meet at the Daily Planet. She's following this "mystery savior" across the world. A lot of people love the 1978 movie but even then, it's not comic accurate and takes a lot of liberties with the source material, but it's the first of its kind and set the stage for a lot of the Superman lore that we all know today (crystals, the Fortress of Solitude, Krypton being an ice world, etc). Man of Steel modernized it, the same way Smallville did. Every Superman story is an artists' particular vision for that character because there is no "right" way to do Superman. You tell the story for the audience you want to tell it to. In this case, it's being told through the lens of a teenage-soap opera basically. I just think Steven should do reactions to past Superman movies or something, it'll probably have him loosen up a bit and stop being a stickler when it comes to Lois "not being who he wants her to be"

Can't wait to see when Steven's gonna change his tune, because it's definitely a WHEN and not an IF.....

2021-11-17 13:11:40 +0000 UTCWell, remember she was originally supposed to be only in these 4 episodes however because of the positive reception of the character, Smallville got approval that they can use her more throughout the season. I believe it got moved to 8 episodes and then of course the magic number.

2021-11-16 10:24:24 +0000 UTCtbh i dont think this ep was that bad but Dont worry steven there are some Legendary eps this season Easily worthy of making the top 10 list, even top 5 or def being honorable mentions. We're just gettin started. They have to have filler eps, I mean the season is 22 episodes long but I love this show because even the filler help with the growth and development of the characters and slowly moves the plot along. Hang on BUD!! it'll be worth it

2021-11-16 10:12:15 +0000 UTCThe actress who played Lois had a reduced regular contract which meant that she was only in 13 episodes per season which lasted up to season 8 I believe. In case you wonder why she appears and disappears from the show.
