Stefan and Caroline are really great at figuring these kinds of things out, I agree lol I love the Damon/Enzo friendship. Enzo's loyalty knows no bounds. But at the end of the day, Damon has no impulse control. So... I knew how a lot of things would go down this episode, but this is the kind of Damon spiral I like... although it was interesting seeing Damon go full embracing the dark side, the conflict is so much interesting to watch. This goes for when he's trying to resist Elena's blood, but also the motive behind his behavior. Embracing his dark side was clearly more than just having fun relishing in being evil, it is also a tactic to push away the people he loves most. I really liked how we saw that in this episode that Damon actually doesn't think very highly of himself. The monster he becomes has everything to do with who he think he is and what he thinks he's worthy of. In his mind, Elena has proved that he was never worthy of her love to begin with.
