Season 5 is a weak season, yes, but I actually very much enjoy the Damon/Elena conversations in this episode. Like, the desperation in Damon struggling to atone for his wrongs. How they really seemed to be enjoying each other's company. Elena's descent into madness... Their intense conversation in the end that definitely did not lead to their break-up. Idk there's something about Delena that's just electric. I really liked the Stefan/Caroline stuff too, to be fair. What actually makes this season weak to me is this travelers nonsense. It's boring, weird and eye-roll inducing. And the love triangle is very much non-existent at this point lol

Elena hasn't shown any interest in going back to Stefan at all, and Stefan even tried to get her to go back to Damon when Delena broke up. I think the show likes to tease the Stelena shippers so they don't lose them as viewers, but I don't see that as a real love triangle, anymore. Stelena died with Katherine, imo.

2021-12-08 13:24:11 +0000 UTCI don't believe there's still a love triangle. Elena made her choice at the end of season 4 and I see no indication she has any romantic feelings for Stefan whatsoever. And Stefan only has marginal feelings for her, but he's made it pretty clear he doesn't want to act on them because he thinks Elena makes his brother a better person. The only thing I feel is left is they tease the Stelena shippers with moments, but for all intents and purposes, that ship dead last season. Right to the ocean floor. As for the ending, I'm glad they didn't break u since they just broke up TWICE, once when Damon broke up with her and then when Katherine ended it. This was an intentional swerve and I'm glad because three times is too many.

2021-12-08 13:21:26 +0000 UTCI agree with your opinion. The only parts that interested me were Stefan and Carolines building relationship, supported by Liv and Luke's intro. By the 5th season I too got tired of the love triangle storyline and was more moved by what Stefan and Caroline were doing. That joke of Stefan pretending his memory was gone was adorable! Their friendship is really the best
