It's interesting, I had always remembered Holtz being in a whole bunch of flashbacks before he shows up in the present in this one. In reality he was only in the season premiere, and then in this episode, and there have been a bunch of episodes and a bunch of Buffy episodes in between, so I can't blame Stephen as much for forgetting and not caring too much.

2021-02-09 07:30:38 +0000 UTCHoltz was mentioned as far back as season 2 and they have been sprinkling his name around for a while now. I just love Darla and think Julie Benz is so great in the role. I’m happy anytime we see her and I think both her and Charisma were very good in this episode. I also never cared much for the Buffy/Angel thing during Buffy and I’m totally on board with Angel and Cordy. They took a really slow burn with it and their friendship has grown very strong over time and their bond is very strong as well. I can see how that could evolve into something more. Give me Cordy/Angel all day over Buffy/Angel (which felt forced from early season 1 Buffy and only felt like it existed as a plot device of a slayer in love with a vampire and to make teen girls swoon). This relationship is built on a strong foundation of friendship and respect.

2021-02-09 05:41:51 +0000 UTCThey've been introducing and dropping hints about Holtz for awhile now, in multiple episodes that start at the end of season 2. It is sprinkled in there very lightly to build the tension surrounding his character. And like someone else mentioned, this is one of the first episodes that focuses more on Cordy's feelings about Angel and Angel's feelings about Cordy.

2021-02-09 05:19:35 +0000 UTCThe episode that focuses more on Cordy feelings and Angel feelings for Cordy over for the fact that Angel might be a father... something he didn’t think was possible. 🤦♀️ The Darla stuff was great and the cliffhanger!
