Here's my interpretation: The professor is an opportunistic predator who gets off on power and control - he's a serial killer, but may also assault women and not kill them. The other girl was a student of his that he harassed and/or assaulted, and she was confronting him about it and threatening to report him - i.e., the story he told Bonnie, except he's the liar, not the girl. She's not running away, but she's clearly distraught when she leaves his house. It makes sense that he wouldn't murder his own students, since that could be easily tied back to him and get him caught. But still he can't help abuse his power in some way.
