Realizing that Peper aka Nathan Lane played Timon was a magical experience. I watched these episodes of modern family years ago and I never made that connection. I now know that Nathan Lane's voice is iconic. He played in every single one of my childhood favorite movies.

2021-02-15 05:55:11 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favorite episodes. Partly because in this case, as a gay man of a certain age with a tendency toward self-consciousness, I identified with Mitchell. And the idea that people can surprise you, that maybe the barrier you built up with a family member may be partly your own doing... it meant a lot. And you're absolutely right! Nathan Lane, who plays Pepper, provided the voice of Timon in The Lion King. At that time, he specialized in that sort of humorous high-energy character.
