When he said I’m just gonna pretend that there’s someone sitting here cause the alternative is too dam depressing that just broke my Delaric heart into a million pieces and definitely that ending scene between Ric and Damon is one of the best for me and ric telling Damon in the end I Miss you Too Buddy is just so sad but beautiful at the same time.

2021-03-11 02:14:04 +0000 UTCI agree that the love triangle/romance stuff is pretty overdone in the storyline but the one defense I will give it is that this show came out in late 2009, the Twilight movie series first came out a year prior, which had a pretty famous love triangle. The Hunger Games came out in 2012, which, if you see the pattern, had a love triangle. All very famous characters and couples that had fans fighting over sides & giving the movies and books more attention. I would imagine the writers saw an opportunity to capitalize on that and overdo it to an unnecessary level. As a teenager I never was as frustrated watching the lovey-dovery stuff as I am at 27. Every time there's a random romance moment I roll my eyes like this is NOT the time and place for this. I much prefer the action and the romance doesn't excite me, course I do still like Elena and Damon together but their relationship is not my favorite part of the show by a long shot. I think they were trying to target a specific demographic and that's what pushed other people away from watching it. This show has some pretty crazy storylines, action, plot twists. But the romance doesn't do it for a lot of people. So I'm glad there's people I wouldn't have expected to watch this show, give it a chance and end up really liking it.
