2021-03-13 04:58:59 +0000 UTCFantastic episode. I even like the way Mike was killed in the end, without fanfare. You said at first that Walter is obsessed with people saying his name. That scene, which is one of the defining moments of this show by the way, is an acknowledgment within the show and to the public of Walter fully embracing his Heisenberg persona. That’s why there’s an extreme close-up of him saying “you’re goddam right”. You’re right about Walter thinking that he has Jesse in his pocket or under his thumb, but not because he has bailed him out many times, instead because of his constant manipulation. He even brings up Jesse killing Gale to guilt trip him into continuing the partnership. You mentioned something about Skyler disobeying Walter. How was he disobeying him exactly? By asking questions? I don’t get it. The last thing, Walter didn’t kill Mike out of anger. The moment he realized that Lydia could give him the information he wanted, he realized that he didn’t need Mike anymore and killed him. Anger had nothing to do with it. Remember he already took his gun from the bag with the money, he didn’t kill immediately because he thought he needed him for this information. Once he realized he had another way to get that information, there was no point in keeping him alive, as he was a risk for him.
