I always took it as Wash being more jealous of the exciting stories than the relationship between Mal and Zoe. I loved the Shepard showing some of his skills off. Man can definitely shoot. Shepard's background is interesting. River repeating "No power in the 'verse can stop me" to Kaylee is brilliant. It is what Kaylee says to River after getting her apple back when they were playing earlier. Kaylee's fear is justified. River just killed 3 men without looking and then went straight back to being a girl playing with her friend.
