I like that we kind of see in this episode how much Buffy has been depressed and wanting to escape from her life and I think Dawn's upset cuz she sees Buffy not caring and she's like "I got you back and you just want to abandon me again." I like that this season is a bit more dark and mature. Buffy was pulled from heaven and she's trying to relearn how to deal with the harshness of this world but no one fully understands aside from Spike who has tried to be more human and help her and Dawn and Joyce.

We know she's depressed but she hides it from her friends and throughout the seasons us (the viewers) too, it is hers alone, makes sense for her to think like that with that huge superiority complex on her back and the world on her shoulders. Season 6 is amazing because the most traumatising thing happened to her and her friends are finally starting to take notice that maybe she ain't feeling too good because she is finding it hard to hide. This season lacks a real big bad cause not only is it a break for us and them to get ready for season 7 but it's time to really fully focus on the people we love, we need to know more, know everything going on inside them a d address it. This is one of the best seasons to me if you really care about the characters more than 'the direction of the show' And gets me so hyped for what they are obviously planning for season 7 and reading the graphic novels for season 8 onwards, which gets real comicy, which is not a bad thing.

2021-04-14 21:39:38 +0000 UTCThe twists and turns of the season are being built - even in this episode. There will be some far-reaching implications from these middle episodes. You can’t expect instant gratification!

2021-04-06 13:49:01 +0000 UTCI forgot how much I don't like season 6. At this point, I'm just twiddling my thumbs until he gets to the end of this season.

2021-03-26 18:39:17 +0000 UTCI mean, I understand not being into the show but it's just disrespectful and unprofessional to sit on your phone -or whatever you were doing- while the episode is still running in the background.

2021-03-26 17:57:30 +0000 UTCI don't love season 6 and share to a lesser extent your frustration with a lot of things. When it's all said and done and you know where it's going I think I can say more completely my opinions. But I'll say they are making the choice they're making for a reason. Like you're picking up what they're putting down. And when I look at this season as a whole there's a lot that I think works better on paper than it ultimately did. But they gave themselves a challenge. Resurrected Buffy is largely a metaphor for depression and it's hard to communicate the emotional weight of that well. As for the trio, the fact they are just 'some guys' is largely the point. It pairs with Buffy not having her heart in it. If the Big Bad was too big then her apathy would seem more irresponsible and be too dangerous. These villains allow the show to focus on the more personal aspects of growing up.

2021-03-26 08:52:47 +0000 UTCI feel like your missing the whole point of Buffy its a story of adulthood and guess what sometimes little annoying things throw your life into a spiral, its not a procedural show its not about solving the crime or beating the big bad its about finding a reason to live even when life throws all this stuff on you Buffy isn’t special because she has super powers none of your favorite super hero’s are! They are special because they try, because they make mistakes we can relate to as Human beings flawed and imperfect just trying... the fact that these ‘villains’ are soooo pathetic makes a contrasting point its supposed to show you what really matters ... the monsters on Buffy represent our perception our fears once you really look at them they aren’t that scary ... the reason Buffy was and still is iconic was because of the human relationships we see and the development of the characters they have to overcome some inner flaw .. you hate Buffy and spike because you love Buffy and want her to do better every time she falls we root for her because we see ourselves in her and we want to overcome ... perseverance is what makes a hero ... i guess what do i know gd night :p

2021-03-25 11:40:07 +0000 UTCI've always had an issue with that and felt sorry for the woman but also understand that anyone would do probably horrible things if given the opportunity in order to protect a loved one. Then again we often hold Buffy to a higher standard. It was about as dark as Buffy goes against an innocent person in this series.

2021-03-25 10:16:59 +0000 UTCI see this season a bit differently. They are focusing on the Heaven storyline but in an indirect way. They're focusing on her life, responsibilities, everyday struggles of young adulthood. Her mom is dead, Dawn is having personal issues and so is her most reliable friend Willow. She's looking for reasons to live and life isn't giving her any. The execution could have been better but that's my own interpretation of how they're addressing her resurrection. I find this to be the most relatable season because it's so grounded in mundane issues.

2021-03-25 10:09:48 +0000 UTCI know Buffy at the social worker's office is suppose to be funny, but I agree I never really saw it as that, it's straight up bullying to be honest. She has her reason obviously, but it's no excuse. I don't know many reactors that call it out.

2021-03-25 09:56:47 +0000 UTCThese are the longest arcs we've seen with some of our main characters dealing with things constantly falling apart interpersonally. Usually, they have a serious big bad to pull them back from personal issues, and bring them together.. But now we're seeing them in their own personal crises of depression, toxic relationships, and addiction, isolation, etc. The drama and darkness of this season... it's such a huge transition from what we are used to. So I get why many people had trouble liking this season, or aspects of it. It left of a lot of viewers trying to grapple with these huge theme differences, and as a result, some people did not quite see the trio as levity. We have been so used to clearly dangerous big bads, and the characters interpersonal issues often as levity from that. Basically the writers have turned the tables on us.

2021-03-25 08:50:40 +0000 UTCAny Big Bad is better than Adam let's be honest lol. Give it some time. I can appreciate this episode for giving Sarah a break. She deserved it haha.

2021-03-25 08:01:24 +0000 UTCThe network was not the reason for the changes in the show. This season Joss Whedon left Buffy as the showrunner to concentrate on Angel and Firefly,Marti Noxon became the showrunner...that is why you see a big change in the show...Joss basically gave her notes of what he wanted to happen but he wasn't around most of this season for the first time in the shows run. The trio are important to the story ultimately and once the season is over you will see why. I didn't hate the trio like you when i watched the first time but i also wasn't looking at them like the "big bad" but more comic relief at this point in the series cause the show was so dark. This season was my least favorite when it first aired but over the years i have grown to really like it. That being said, the next episode is one of my least favorite episodes :/ ..then it starts its upward climb again though in quality.

2021-03-25 06:03:54 +0000 UTCI dunno I can see what you are saying about wanting a bigger bad but the thing is last season we had a Hell God so they brought it back down and really the Big Bad of the season is life. Plus I know alot of people don't like the Trio because they are annoying or whatever but that is actually kinda of the point. I think it comes down to different senses of humor I find all the stuff with them being nerdy or being idiots funny. Them messing with each other and stuff like the Boba Fett stuff with Spike. Some might not like it but after all these years and more rewatches than I can remember I still chuckle at the scenes with the trio. Plus like the said above we can't say without spoilers but I would say to wait and see where it's going because you can't always tell how things are going to end up at the end of the season by this point.

2021-03-25 05:54:12 +0000 UTCHonestly, the first time I watched season 6 I hated the 3 annoying ones too. However, after watching the entire season, I actually appreciate what they did. I can't go into more detail since spoilers, but don't judge the season by a single episode, if you do you will be sorely disappointed. Wait until you finish the season and then you will understand why they made the choice of the 3 villians. Now, with that said, I do think that the season could have been better if there wasn't so much screen time for Warren, Andrew, and Johnathon. They just aren't entertaining and the season would have benefited from having less time with the 3 geeks and more on our main characters we all know and love. Atlas, I still really like this season as it forces us to watch what most people try to hide (addiction, loss, depression, to name a few). Especially depression considering it doesn't get talked about nearly enough and the bad decisions we make because of it. This season doesn't let you shy away from it and has a more adult vibe, which makes sense since Buffy herself is growing into an adult. After all that, I still give this episode a 7 and that's generous, but the end result of this enitre season, I give it a thumbs up.
