Matt Bomer was actually screen tested to be Superman but then the directors changed for the film and Brandon Routh (from Chuck) took his place. There were rumors that it was because he is gay but they later confirmed that they knew he was gay before they picked him. But the fans haven't gotten over the idea. Matt has voiced Superman in the animated series "Superman: Unbound" and even plays Superman in a series of commercials. It looks like he is in line to take over Henry Cavill's place for Man of Steel 2 if Henry chooses to not return due to his other projects..
