I’d personally rank this season above 4, but I agree seasons 1-3 were far superior.

2022-10-15 13:37:39 +0000 UTCRumple has died, come back to life, lost his powers, regained his powers, been banished, returned, became evil, turned into a hero, chose evil again more times than possibly any other character, but it doesn’t seem to bother you in the way it does Zelena. It’s kinda curious to me. Part of me thinks it’s because you didn’t realize she was bumped up to regular this season so you’re holding her to a different standard than our other main characters because you didn’t realize she became one, too. As for why they didn’t kill Hyde, possibly because they don’t know his strengths and weaknesses yet? But, because we need a season 6 villain, of course!

I didn’t really need to see the Evil Queen again, but at the very least they didn’t sacrifice Regina’s redemption to do it and to be fair on the writers, they haven’t really overused her as a villain. She was only the big bad of season 1 and was a secondary villain with Cora for only a couple of episodes in season 2, but it had been years and I think some fans were legitimately asking for her to return. I can deal with it since we still have good Regina and they introduced a new villain for the next season in Mr. Hyde. So it’s not just a repeat of Evil Queen alone.
