Right? Because of the season 3 finale, season 4 had to be darker in tone. Without giving away spoilers, David has hoped for a lot of things for the show in terms of seriousness and the progression of Kate and Rick's relationship and season four is a major turning point for all of that and the season 3 finale sets it up.
