I completely sympathize with Jess and understand where he's coming from: that he feels rejected, unheard, unloved, and lost but the reason why I don't empathize with him is because I've had a rough childhood/upbringing as well with neglectful and verbally abusive parents and you don't see me vandalizing stuff, getting into fights, lying to my significant other, etc. I know everyone is different but I can't empathize with him because of all the damage he caused to everyone around him and he had no willingness to truly seek help, change, or feel remorse. I love that he's an interesting character for the show but he's a shitty teenager period. Absolutely should have been sent to military school to learn some respect and manners. Zero tolerance for bad behavior no matter what age. Of course, we should treat people with deep issues kindly but there also needs to be punishment for bad behavior and he barely received any/learned his lesson in my opinion (strictly talking about his younger self).

2021-10-08 00:40:00 +0000 UTCWhen people are neglected and/or abused and made their entire lives to feel like everything bad happens because of them that leaves an impression it's not something to get over or suck up especially when your a teenager. Maybe people from healthy homes and healthy childhoods can't understand that but then in that case don't give an opinion or input cause you don't know that situation and don't say yeah well other people like that went through it and they don't act like that, you don't what it took for those people to get there you don't know who they were before. Jess is not perfect and he did a lot of things wrong but you know what he's a teenager that had take care if himself felt unwanted unloved and unneeded. I love Luke but he didn't want Jess, his mom didn't want him, his dad didn't want him, the whole town didn't want him before he got there. How dare he be angry and hurt and lash out at 17 or 18. If you don't know what's it's like to feel unwanted or unloved then don't like it's something to just get over.

2021-05-12 04:39:06 +0000 UTCYou can defend him all you want -doesn’t change anything for me. Lots people have bad childhoods and they don’t act like he does. And anyway he is supposed to be a “bad boy” that is how he is written but to me he’s just an ass and no amount of oh woe is me my childhood was bad changes that for me .

2021-04-26 21:26:06 +0000 UTCBecause he's not a "bad boy" he's a person who has had a lot to overcome. His dad abandoned him and his mom went from guy to guy never gave him any stability. Then AFTER she sends him to live with Luke she finally gets her life together and is all too eager to tell everyone how she's finally happy. He was never taught how to deal with high stress situations because his mom didn't. She pawned everything off on Luke including her son. I come from a very similar background as Jess and I don't think Rory's right for him either, but he taught me I didn't have to be a product of my environment. I guess that's why i'm so protective over the character. p.s i'm really trying to not sound like a bitch. Just wanted to defend Jess a little lol. Hope I didn't offend you.

2021-04-26 21:22:13 +0000 UTCI have NEVER EVER understood the appeal of Jess, and I am someone who usually likes bad boys on TV shows but Jess just comes off as a whiny immature brat who is awful to just about everybody and he is absolutely the wrong guy for Rory, really do not get the appeal at all

2021-04-18 17:35:28 +0000 UTCIt cracks me up everytime you say but Jess is your guy cause I’m like nah. Liz is annoying af to me and so is TJ. Gypsy is hilarious in this episode. Lane does need more scenes.

2021-04-14 04:44:30 +0000 UTCJess can't deal with his feelings... some ppl are just like that. It doesn't make hime a bad person just a late learner. His running away when hings got hard or emotional was all he knew. At least this time he told her how he felt before bailing. It is a sucky way of doing things but unless your really in someones shoes youwill never undrstand.

2021-04-13 21:05:57 +0000 UTCAgree, lane could have stayed until she had a plan for work, living situation and so on.

2021-04-13 16:56:53 +0000 UTCShe didn't kick Lane out, she said she could move out if she wanted to "live like that" If Lane wanted to agree to the house rules she was welcome to stay. I realize the rules are absurd, but she still could have chosen to stay. It was an ultimatum, Lane chose to leave beacause she didmt want to live like her mom wanted, which is valid, but you cannot possibly know what it is like to be a mother, you cannot know how Mrs. Kim feels.

2021-04-13 15:37:57 +0000 UTCLiz and T.J are actually hilarious and I love them so much. Jess telling Rory I love you was definitely a dick move and the next episode is one of my favorites this season!

2021-04-13 13:02:06 +0000 UTCI think Jess - as you said - needs to work on himself, fix his own life. I understand why people like him and Rory together (which is literally 80% of people who watched the show), but this rn cannot be their time. Jess is emotionally unavailable and needs to work on that before they could potentially be anything. As for Luke giving Lorelai the earrings .. I think Luke thought that Lorelai would like them way more than Nicole (who is just not the jewelry type), plus him and Lorelai are very obviously into each other , they just haven't realised that yet ..

2021-04-13 10:33:54 +0000 UTCIn my opinion you are spot on when it comes to Jess. I felt bad for Luke this episode. People just use him because he’s a good guy and then he got told off by Jess which was just unfair. Lane needs more screen time. Next episode is one of my favorites!

2021-04-13 10:29:40 +0000 UTCYeah Luke says to Lorelai he stopped by Gypsy's earlier so I think he left the money then. The flirty scene with Luke and Lorelai was cute. I like Jason and Lorelai but come on. Luke has been in love with Lorelai for years they just won't admit it. Liz is a bit crazy and TJ is a character that's for sure but she does love Luke so much! Gypsy's scenes made me laugh. I love Gypsy. I agree with you about Lane. They really need to give Lane more screen time. She is kinda wasted this season. We've seen more of Miss Patty than Lane and Lane is a main character and has been since the first season. She deserves WAY better.
