I may be alone in this, but i always felt that introducing the sire bond was really a way of testing audience reaction to Elena and Damon’s relationship finally coming to fruition. Showrunners test audience responses all the time when on air and i wouldn’t be surprised if the sire bond plot was their fail safe in case there was a backfire, especially given how everything eventually plays out later on anyways. For me it just comes across later on as a last ditch attempt that was thrown in to save the Elena/Stefan ship.

2022-02-05 19:43:45 +0000 UTCalso stephen and elena have been done for months, they just hadn't officially said it tbh. I feel like stephen and elena had been developing since season 1 it was not just over night

2021-11-21 02:40:32 +0000 UTCeveryone still treats damon like the old damon though, elena is the only one that has see passed that.

2021-11-21 02:38:04 +0000 UTCyou went from saying you liked damon and elena and understanding why they would fall for eachother to saying the opposite lmao

2021-11-21 02:28:38 +0000 UTCI love elena but i hated that they were looking for the cure. they should have lete elena deal with it and teach her just like they had to learn, they had 100 something years to learn and heal, and they are now good

2021-11-20 23:38:36 +0000 UTCThe sex scene playing at the same time as the sire reveal was supposed to be so people could freak out that she's having sex with Damon thinking she loves him but it could just all be the sire bond and they realized too late and now she might come to regret it when she does find out about the sire bond.

2021-04-22 19:24:16 +0000 UTCI was nervous about rewatching this episode but I sucked it up, because I just know I'll always be biased towards Delena no matter what, but here are my two cents: It really shouldn't be a surprise that Elena has feelings for Damon. For Stefan or Caroline. This has already been established. Just because Elena "chose" Stefan, or, just chose to go back to Mystic Falls, at the end of Season 3, does not make those feelings go away. Caroline literally had Elena admit to her that she was attracted to Damon last season. Basically, anyone could see from a mile away that Elena had feelings for Damon. I wish Caroline/Stefan would just name what they're really surprised about. They are surprised that Elena's feelings for Damon are enough that they're interfering with her love for Stefan. And even with all of that, I appreciated that Damon was trying to be there for Stefan after the break-up, despite the awkwardness. Sure, he threw that all away at the end, but I didn't absolutely hate that choice from a character perspective. Damon is selfish. Damon has made it very clear how he feels about Elena for seasons, while she was actively WITH Stefan. He even made advances. And now Elena has finally, very plainly, reciprocated those feelings. Honestly, this was bound to happen. Of course it was too soon. But Stefan aided in that by leaving when he really didn't have to lol What bothers me about the dual sex scene/sire bond reveal is that no one ends up happy. People that were excited about the sex scene and are really into the Damon/Elena romance have Stefan/Caroline interrupting it and essentially crapping all over their relationship. People that were into the sire bond reveal get false equivalency that Elena is sleeping with Damon because of the sire bond, which is gross and all kinds of wrong regarding consent. I kind of hate the sire bond storyline for this purpose, and because I think it plays out really stupidly. But no more on that. I personally loved the Damon/Elena dance, but I would honestly rather they didn't have sex, if all they were going to do is make it seem like it was non-consensual or out of Elena's control.

2021-04-20 01:51:08 +0000 UTCTerri I thought that was her Gram's house.

2021-04-15 15:52:10 +0000 UTCWe saw her house in season 1 several times. Probably about as much as we've seen Matt's house too, which isn't much.

2021-04-15 04:02:09 +0000 UTCThat's a bit because the book itself is whitewashed. They just cast according to that, but actually added Bonnie in. So I don't hold that against the show like a lot of people do. TO was an original work where they didn't have to try to please book fans, so they were able to cast how they wanted. That's why accusations of the showrunner/writers being racists bothers me. They were just trying to match the book series. I'm not saying the writer is racist either. Writers write what they know and some can't write from a perspective if they don't understand it. I actually hated the way they kept cutting back and forth between the sex scene and the reveal of the sire bond. I wish they had done the sex scene and then cut to Caroline and Stefan and revealed the sire bond. I feel like it would flow better and actually build tension better. The way it is done just feels awkward imo.

2021-04-15 04:01:03 +0000 UTCI agree with all of this, but I still think the moving into the house (as opposed to many other possible living arrangements) and getting together within hours was very disrespectful

2021-04-14 19:34:37 +0000 UTCThe Jeremy/Elena scene: Okay so Elena pushes Jeremy and yes he has his ring and NO she doesn't. know about his strength. She's his sister. Natural instinct would be to check on him. (or she's dumb lol) The reason Matt could get him out of there is because Jeremy isn't a mindless zombie. He appears to have moments where his urges are taking over just like vampires do. He kinda snapped out of it there. Oh and frankly I have no problem with Stefan leaving his house cause I LOVE that he went to Caroline's.
Libby
2021-04-14 17:41:38 +0000 UTCElena might have gone to Caroline's but they had that huge blow up fight so I'm guessing that wasn't an option. Lol and since they give Bonnie no storyline of her own I don't even know if she has house. So far we've seen a door and a couch... and it took four seasons to get that lol

2021-04-14 17:25:15 +0000 UTCTVD is as whitewashed as The Originals is diverse. This is so noticible to me now, I never picked up on it watching it originally but I was a teenager. The whole sire thing actually makes sense if you know its coming and watching the previous episodes. But the whole thing is a mess. The sex scene at the end, you cannot cut that. The huge majority of the audience watching this show on CW at the time of airing were teenage girls freaking the fuck out because this is what they were waiting for for years. If you keep in mind the audience this show is aimed and written for the writers make sense. Different times. What I noticed is that watching this show again years later and being older, many of the episodes and storylines I remebered in my memory were 9-10's but watching now they are 7-8's. I guess I kind of forgot about TVD as when the Originals debued I started watching and following that show faithfully and kind of stopped watching TVD towards the last season as I lost interest.

2021-04-14 13:23:00 +0000 UTCHonestly? I feel like the writers forget they are supposed to be brothers. Damon and Elena feel they can disrespect and taunt Stefan when they’re in the wrong. Like cmon. Wait a while or at least be respectful.

2021-04-14 12:56:02 +0000 UTCThe whole Elena and Stefan and Damon thing bothers me SO much. Why is Stefan moving out it’s HIS house wtf? That’s his family home why can’t she find somewhere else to stay rather than living with his brother. Elena puts a damper on Stefan and Damon’s brotherly bond for me. Like how can you treat your family like this. Family is more important. This whole triangle is one of the reasons why I cannot stand love triangles. It’s so cheap, fan service and writers playing games.

2021-04-14 12:53:26 +0000 UTCwow I never thought of it that way. Thats crazy true

2021-04-14 12:53:10 +0000 UTCThis is why I stopped watching this show. We all coul d see Damon and Elena getting together from a mile away. But he literally KILLED her brother! It lucked out that Jeremy was wearing the ring, but to make her fall in love with the guy who killed her brother just because he got his feelings hurt?! It became so unrealistic and annoying. I kept hoping they wouldn't go the route of Damon and Elena and do something more interesting...but then, this episode :(

2021-04-14 11:44:09 +0000 UTCThey told Jeremy to go with Matt bc Matt is human and all the others are not, meaning Jeremy will listen to him than all the other rn.

2021-04-14 10:35:31 +0000 UTCjust to clarify things: Elena and Stefan's break up is not a fluke like the other times. When Stefan said "I can't do this anymore" it meant he won't fight for her love anymore if she loves Damon. And she clearly does love Damon. I think Stefan trying to "fix her" is something that Damon just doesn't do. He'd rather make sure she can live a good as life as possible as a vampire, which Stefan can't. Like he said before he doesn't know if he can love Elena as a vampire (bc of his ripper side, but also bc she's not the same person now he fell in love with). But Damon can. And that is why Elena can't go back now. She can't be with someone who doesn't love her the way she is. anyhow, that's my take on the love triangle. sadly, season 4 focuses a lot of energy on that and that is sometimes a bit much imho.

2021-04-14 09:09:38 +0000 UTCI love Damon and Elena, and as much as I love them getting together, the ending definitely felt out of character and rushed. They didn't even have Damon even try to pretend to wait for Stefan's sake... poor fucking guy. And Elena laughed in reaction to Damon saying "welcome to the club" in response to her saying "my brother wants to kill me." Like, what the hell?
Alexis Cardarella
2021-04-14 07:53:19 +0000 UTCThe thing with Shane...they've done it twice like you said to show that he's pulling strings and he's in control. I think you'll like it more later. The writers know what they're doing and everything plays out well

2021-04-14 06:18:54 +0000 UTCAhhh the sire reveal.....the fact that she moved in the the Salvatore house was shitty as hell, you tell Stefan to move on then you come in his house all willy-nilly and then the very same day have sex with his brother......I’m not picking sides because neither of the brothers I care for relationship wise (I do like them as individual characters away from Elana ........I must say I never thought of it being twilighty but damn you are right and it’s definitely not a good thing🤣🤣.... Honestly watching this again I’m just realizing Elena has alway rubbed me wrong, I never really like how she treated Damon in season 1, treating him like the dog who bit the neighbor but than using his emotions for her to try to be good just to shit on him time and time again, she was judge-mental as hell but she would do it on the sneak tip, she definitely did more harm than good with her Martyr behavior, i won’t begin to talk about how one sided her and Bonnies relationship is......Tbt once we get pass the love triangle thing Vampire Elana is wayyyy more tolerable than human Elana, she’s still not my favorite but🤷🏾♂️ Klause and Caroline is what we are here for its written soooo much better than the Elana love triangle everything about it makes you feel invested, like we know Klause is shitty but something about it just works.....

2021-04-14 04:39:33 +0000 UTCI agree with the dumb absolving scenes, definitely a little bit of lazy writing on those parts. But I think the majority of the TVD fandom can agree that the Tyler-Caroline-Klaus with the friendship of Stefan storyline was more interesting than the main love triangle! I also didn't like that Damon and Elena instantly got together not but 2 days after she broke up with Stefan. I mean, they're brothers – there has to be a code, at least a wait time! Especially when they put him out of his own house. They just couldn't wait to jump each others bones. Great reaction as always, thanks!!
