The Last Jedi was easily the best-directed entry of the sequel trilogy, imo, so I don't find it that hard to believe at all. And Brick, Looper and Knives Out are all brilliant so I think Johnson's just immensely talented.

2021-05-08 14:48:43 +0000 UTCHey David, you might want to re-watch the scene with the phone call between Skyler and Walt. You seemed to get the opposite connotation of what was happening. You mentioned that what he was saying might incriminate her, but that's not at all what he was doing. Walt's a piece of shit for numerous reasons, but that phone call was not it. From the moment he called he knew cops would be overhearing, so even though in some parts you could visibly see it hurt him, he delivered the lines as if he were an abusive hardened criminal. Things like "what do you even know about it? Nothing! You did nothing!" were meant to exonerate Skyler of any wrongdoing and making it seem like she was doing everything against her will from the start, which we know isn't exactly true, she was a contributing member of the illegal activities at some points. She realizes what he's doing at one point and you can see it in her acting, it's a truly incredible scene.
