If he wasn't "nerdy" and therefore not viewed as "harmless", there's no way his behavior towards Penny and every woman he's ever come across would fly. They had a chance to give him character growth, to take Penny's harsh but totally accurate words into consideration, to be the one to come up to her and apologize for sexually harassing her for 1.5 years but nooooo. Big Bad Penny hurt widdle Wallowitz's feelings. Can't have that. I still can't believe that they actually wrote Penny apologizing to Howard for standing up for herself against his blatant harassment because his "feelings got hurt" and the guys wanted to win a robot competition...this show...I swear to God...they miss the mark sometimes
