I'm actually a big fan of the way this Doctor behaves. Or at least the perception of how he appears in direct contrast. I like that they lean into defining each personality by the precise way they handle the danger. The variety is what makes the show able to explore fundamentally the same task of saving as many people as possible in perilous circumstances, but with more than just the actual threat changed. It's a bit like, at the point of regeneration, they suffer a brain injury. Everything is pulled apart and reconstructed in seconds. The next one has to spend the preceeding adventures redefining themselves by the new personality they now find themselves with.

2021-05-13 12:24:57 +0000 UTCAfter Clara mentioned the addiction thing, the doctor said you don’t know until you give it up. Perhaps that phone call gave her a taste of how she’d feel to leave him? I’m not sure but it’s an interesting theme. Jenna Coleman said when Clara was on the phone and said I love you she was really talking to the Doctor which is why she was looking at him. That could factor into her sudden decision to change I guess. I don’t have a solid opinion on it though. I’m not a fan of Clara’s character but her dynamic with 12 is great! I love it.

2021-05-12 17:59:52 +0000 UTCI think Clara and the girl got out of the room because Gus had control of the train and once they were needed in the lab to gather more data it just released the override on the door to allow the experiment to work. I do find Peter’s doctor very harsh tho, I think the writers wanted to move away from the younger flirty doctors so they made him old and stern. And we have seen the doctor be dark and make tough decisions before but I miss the kindness that usually tempers that.
