The show has been building Simon absolutely hating becoming a vampire. He's been struggling with the symptoms of being a fledgling for at least a couple of weeks now (I do think that it's been at least a couple of weeks, since the first episode, but could be entirely wrong) and had been reaching out to Clary with something he was really struggling with. I understand 100% why he was angry with Clary because he did not want this life. He just wanted Clary to be safe and to escape it all. Vampirism is basically a curse and turning into a vampire was clearly a traumatic experience that wreaked havoc on his body and mind. We might think it's cool for Simon to be a vampire, but we don't have to go through what he's going through. And I have a lot of empathy for him in this moment. Regarding Clary/Jace, I'm not a big fan of their relationship but they have basically been spending all of their time together and feelings can develop quickly if you're spending that much time together in dire situations, despite only knowing each other for a short amount of time. However, I wouldn't say that they love each other at this time. I think they trust each other and want to support one another.

The thing is....they've made Alec tow the line and be the perfect shadowhunter son his whole entire life. They've been super strict with him. He's given up a lot to be that perfect son. Then he finds out that the entire time they've been lying to him. Instead of the lightwoods being that perfect shadowhunter family...his parents once betrayed the shadowhunters. Alec feels betrayed that they never told him. That's why at the end the talk with Magnus was about Alec doing what he wants...and Alec agrees. It's finally time for him to make moves without his parents telling him what to do. He is going to forge his own path. The choice with Simon was just a bad one all the way around. This is a shift for the vampires though, because Camille is out. Raphael really went out on a limb with this...first in letting Simon go when he was at the hotel in the earlier episodes and then bringing him to the shadowhunters now. You have to wonder how that may change things with the vampires going forward. It's interesting to think about. As Raphael said...if Simon does "live" and become a vampire he's walking, talking proof against Camille of her breaking the accords, which is a huge issue for them. This is because they are not allowed to kill mundanes (aka humans).

Some folks don’t like the idea of living forever, never aging or having kids and never being in the sunlight. Yes, we want Simon as a vampire but did Simon want to be one? That is what is important and that’s important in every vampire story (to me I mean). Did the vampire choose that life. For Simon he’s a lone vampire right now. It’s not like he met vampires and decided he wanted that life and knows that he’ll have companionship for eternity. Clary may be a shadowhunter but they are not immortal. At some point everyone Simon knows and/or loves so far will die except for Magnus. In this universe, I don’t know how long werewolves live so I don’t even know if he will have Luke forever. Vampirism needs to be a choice and Simon didn’t get the chance to make that choice. Remember he was happy when he thought that it would pass like Camille told him. Those symptoms he was having would eventually go away. Camille killing him changed that. But we know he didn’t want to be a vampire. I think it’s cool that not only is Izzy a bad ass fighter but she’s hella smart too. The leading pathologist they kept saying was the best in the field and it’s Izzy!! Love it badass science fighter.
