For me, on originally viewing the series, this episode is where Brooklyn Nine-Nine clicked into focus and I started to truly love it. (Only false note: Amy's horrible cooking. I know they needed it for plot/laughs yadda yadda, but a perfectionist like Amy would take care over every detail in the kitchen, wouldn't she?) "Boyle Bingo" remains one of their all-time best cold opens, and I especially love how it came back for a zinger in the very last moments. More of Jake's love of inventing elaborate back-stories for his false identities, and this was gloriously capped by Holt shouting "My wife was killed by a man in a yellow sweater!" (Look at Jake's rapturous face at that moment.) Boyle's food obsession finally saving Thanksgiving dinner. And Jake's oddly touching final toast to his new family -- his weird new family with two black dads, two Latina sisters, etc. This one gets a rare 10 out of 10 from me.

Everyone loves the show’s Halloween episodes (and rightfully so), but I’d put their thanksgiving ones up there, as well. I don’t think they’ve had a bad one, and you always get to see unique pairings of characters getting into some nonsense.

I love your theories, but don't worry everyone's backstory will be explained in time :)

When i first started watching this show it took me awhile to really start liking it, this was one of the first episodes that I really enjoyed. Amy trying so hard to get Holt to mentor her, plus her accidentally smashing up the bar, Terry so desperate to eat, Boyle Bingo was hilarious and the Captain playing along with Jake's character idea. I really liked this episode plus the Halloween heist episode.
