A really great episode and yes is considered one of the best. My only complaint is that the moment most fans were waiting for with Luke and Lorelai is overshadowed with the ickishness of Rory and Dean. At least you know why no one is team Dean anymore and makes that moment when Jess goes to break up with Shane before starting anything with Rory quite significant. I love how you detest the cheating aspect. Glad that you enjoyed the episode, because it’s not quite the same from here on in.

2022-01-29 05:20:45 +0000 UTCI dont like how Rory acted but when someone cheats its their fault. Rory didnt have any commitment to Lindsey, Dean did. Im not saying its great what Rory did but its Dean who broke his promise.

2021-08-23 17:21:40 +0000 UTCI think the way Lorelai and Luke get together is incredibly well scripted. Do I feel like the writers rushed the break up with Jason? Yeah. I think they realized they wanted L&L to get together at the Inn opening and it occurred to them that meant she needed to be done with Jason ASAP. But that kiss scene on the front porch of the Inn that ends with Luke chasing a naked Kirk? GOLD. Pure gold.

2021-07-09 22:01:06 +0000 UTCI LOVED Rory and Dean’s first relationship. Hated this “reunion” they just had. I don’t think I ever focused my blame on one or the other. I thought they shared it equally. Rory might have been a virgin but she was no idiot. She knew right from wrong. She once lectured Paris about the very same thing. She was being childish. “My Dean”, my ass. I was ECSTATIC about Luke and Lorelai’s kiss, though. Not taking into account the whole Richard/Jason thing, I just never felt like Lorelai had ANY chemistry with Jason. She has a boatload or two of chemistry with Luke, though, so YAY

2021-06-18 13:26:15 +0000 UTCFor the record, Dean proving his crappiness doesn't suddenly make Jess any better. There are some of us who never liked either one. We do exist! 😉

2021-06-18 01:37:21 +0000 UTCeven after what dean does in this episode...overall, as a whole character and based on what we've seen so far, i still think jess is ten times worse as a person. jess will forever be on my sh-t list for being forceful and acting like an asshole when rory wouldn't sleep with him at that party (in addition to other things he's done).

2021-06-18 00:34:14 +0000 UTCI never understand what's so hard about breaking up before you have sex with somebody else .. if Dean is unhappy with Lindsay and regrets getting married why not leave her and then start something with Rory?! Also Rory being so delusional and entitled as if she owned Dean or something .. not a good look on her.

2021-06-16 18:56:27 +0000 UTCLorelei was right in everything she Said, but just because it was rorys first time, I would never say anything to bring shame into it. Rorys first time is ruined for ever already, so if I was lorelei I would not want her to feel more Shame. It was both rory and deans fault, but the way it played out was very realistic. They shouldn’t have been friend really.

2021-06-16 14:21:15 +0000 UTCI agree completely that this is a great episode. Definitely one of my favourites. To finally have the confirmation of the Grandparents separation, to seeing Luke finally fight and express his feelings for Lorelai. In regards to Rory and Dean they definitely share the blame, although Dean was saying how it wasn't going to work out with his wife and that Rory was the one he wanted, he never said anything more about leaving Lindsay or respecting her enough to wait until they were separated. With Rory, she has always known how strongly Dean reacts to her, she was completely wrong in blaming Lindsay and making it seem as if Dean is completely blameless and that Dean belonged to her because she had him first, so it was okay. It was refreshing to see it all come down on her at the end, seeing her realise the mistake as soon as she heard Lindsay's voice. It was like a wake-up call to the last few hours of her perfect moment with Dean. She has never had a defining moment like that. Things have always gone her way; boyfriends, school etc. she has never had consequences like this to deal with like this.

2021-06-16 13:30:44 +0000 UTCIn general I say they’re both to blame. Dean is disgusting for how he did everything. This was her first time. But Rory is absolutely delusional with everything she said afterwards and how she was blaming Lindsay. I really don’t like those type of people. She was getting close to a married man and I honestly feel like she would’ve done it at some point anyway regardless of the truth. It’s such a terrible situation and it’s hard when the main character makes mistakes.

2021-06-16 12:02:21 +0000 UTCMy favorite episode of the series, hands down. And there are some major, epic ones down the road but this episode just culminated everything I like about Gilmore Girls into one episode. As for Dean: I was never his biggest fan (didn’t hate him though) and imho Rory and him never fit really well together bc they just want different things from life and relationships .. buuuut this whole sleeping together while he’s married thing was so wrong on both their parts .. this was the first time I viewed Rory as entitled and arrogant bc she kept going on and on about how he’s hers and how she is way better than Lindsay and that was just terrible. Lorelai was 100% right in everything she said and this alone is a reason why nobody seems to like Dean. He can’t come over to his ex‘s house after his wife specifically asked him to avoid her, tell her that he’s emotionally out of the relationship when he hasn’t ended things with her yet (like Lorelai said: he hasn’t moved out or signed any papers or anything) and then have sex with Rory (which was her first time too!). That is just wrong in all kinds of ways.

2021-06-16 10:46:30 +0000 UTCWell you were right about one thing Steven: You DID like Dean too much. 😜 Lauren Graham's acting in that last scene was incredible, imo. Like you can actually see her heart sinking as she processes what clearly happened. The disappointment, heartbreak, defeat, the knowledge she's about to have to crush her daughter's giddiness with a dose of necessary reality...you can see all that written on her face, before she ever says a word. Just some A+ emotive acting. For that scene AND the especially great dialogue throughout, I agree this is one of the best episodes of the series, easily. It might be my favorite. Definitely a big part of why this season is my fave. But also because on rewatch, the way they built to all these developments throughout the season was so natural and well done, imo.

2021-06-16 07:57:20 +0000 UTCI also really liked Dean, up until this point! I know manyy people actually dislike Dean a lot and for them, this episode was just a confirmation of his bad character.. I never really thought Dean was bad but cheating on his wife just totally made me hate him😭 It is definitely both of their fault 100%, they are both in the wrong for suree on every level! I also really like Jason, he didn't deserve any of what Richard did to him and I feel bad that he is not getting a happy ending neither on a professional or personal level, it sucks cuz he is a nice guy! But then again, Lorelai & Luke are OTP, love them, they just work together and we have all been waiting for this😍 This episode, like you said, IT'S UP THERE, everything about it was perfect and it is one of those that live in my mind rent free (prob for all eternity lol).. Also, I dont know about everyone else but S5 is one of my faves and I am sooo excited for you to react to it ahhh!!

2021-06-16 05:56:32 +0000 UTCOh this episode whew. Blame them both, 100% both Rory and Dean are to blame. They both put themselves in positions to carry all the blame. It was a joke about the people that quit lol. As much as I yelled Noooo about Rory and Dean, I yelled Yay for Loreli and Luke. Poor Jason. The Gilmore family is a dysfunctional mess without what happened with the company and now his relationship with Loreli is the collateral damage. It sucks. Like you said all the dialogue in this episode is pretty great.

2021-06-16 05:14:47 +0000 UTCI was waiting for you to get to this episode! I love it so much, it’s my favorite of the season. So much happens and like you I was also one of the few who liked Dean. I loved the scenes with Rory and Lorelai outside of Luke’s at the beginning and at the end. This is one of the best episodes of the show imo. Can’t wait for you to see season 5!

2021-06-16 05:13:42 +0000 UTCRight with you on how fun/great the writing is this episode--perfect mix of plot moving forward with the interspersed Stars Hollow character mix helping enhance the fun/whimsy. The Inn ~event~ episodes are some of my favorite of the series, like this one and the Bracebridge Dinner; right up there with some of the great Town Square episodes (the best of which are still coming, IMO. ) So glad you enjoyed this so much!

2021-06-16 04:31:39 +0000 UTCAfter rewatching the pilot recently, I don't get the Dean love. He literally admits to stalking her for weeks before he actually spoke to her....GROSS! Rory shouldn't of done it, regardless of whether he says "it's not working". You wait until he officially ends it before you get with him hon, it's not that hard, Rory. LOVE Lorelai for actually calling her out for it. She was so right! The Luke and Lorelai kiss is EVERYTHING XD I'm obsessed! Lorelai being all clumsy was cute and hilarious! We've seen Luke pine for her, so it was nice to see her actually realise she does like him as more than a friend! I think Lorelai had good intentions with the "parent trap" situation, it just backfired badly! I like Jason, but showing up that night of ALL nights? He seemed to know it was the trial run? So why he'd choose that night to show up was a bit unfair! Also the underhanded lying to Luke about his relationship to Lorelai kinda turned me off him. Season 5 is my absolute favorite season so I'm really excited for that to start! Awesome reaction, though NOTHING will beat your reaction to Paris and Asher Flemming! XD I still laugh my ass off at that! xx
