I think this episode is a Fan favorite of Superman fans, because the character of Perry is very iconic in the comics, movies, and other media. It really does a good interpretation of his character. However as a non superman fan I can see people finding the character annoying and the episode pointless.

2021-06-16 07:15:22 +0000 UTCGreat reaction. Yes Clark’s use of his powers is so unbelievably casual that it was a long running joke at this point and in later seasons of the show. This episode had some little nods to past incarnations of Perry White. Two right off hand is the whole chief bit with the sheriff is a nod to him being called Chief by Jimmy Olsen. Also the song ‘Walking in Memphis’ was a nod to the last TV version of Perry White before this which was on Lois and Clark that Perry White was a southern Elvis loving version and the song was a nod to his version.
