I agree ther Bonnie storyline is bad. I don't think less of Lexi though. I don't think she fell on love with him but girl's allowed to have a wild night without it changing who she is. I like that Caroline took over Lexi's place with Stefan though. Their friendship is cute.

First of all, I really liked this episode. I didn't realize people didn't like this episode, actually. I loved learning about Damon with his humanity off in the seventies. The Damon/Lexi hookup makes sense. Lexi is a strong character and is able to psychologically help Stefan, sure, but as Damon points out, he is much different from Stefan and much better at manipulation. Lexi may be a master at getting to the core of someone's problems and "fixing" them, but Damon without humanity is charming, ruthless and, as Elena said, borderline evil. Lexi likes to think that her methods are working and Damon made it seem like they were. Some think this makes killing Lexi that much more cruel. I don't think so. Damon was a very cruel person with his humanity off and was still a cruel person in Season 1, where it seemed he had his humanity on a dimmer switch of some sort. So, he never had any feelings for Lexi at any point. He felt bad for what he did, but at that time in Season 1, and hell, even Season 2, the way he reacts to feeling bad is killing people. In Damon's mind, that what would get rid or help or aid with that feeling of guilt. It's a messed up and twisted way of thinking, but is very consistent with how Damon is characterized. I never cared for Lexi, so I don't mind her character being knocked off of her high horse. She can get played like the rest of them. Either way, Damon does feel guilty for killing Lexi, but Damon's attitude is that what's done is done. He doesn't like to dwell in it, but he also never liked Lexi to begin with. He just now knows, with his humanity, that he did a shitty thing. Does he regret killing Lexi? No, I don't think so. Does that make him a horrible person? Sure! Is this out of character for him? Also no. I definitely don't mind it. Regarding Bonnie, I was SHOCKED when you said that you would be okay with Bonnie dying. Without Bonnie, there really is no show. Sure, they could find another witch, but that would just end up being a Bonnie replacement. There was absolutely no way Caroline was going to watch Bonnie die in front of her. The choice she made was horrific, but I would in no way call that decision moronic. It's exactly what needed to be done to save Bonnie. Also, the ending wanted to make it seem like Damon got played and that he should have never taken Elena to New York, but I think Damon taking Elena to New York was smart, because he really did have a handle on the situation. He just wasn't expecting to have to deal with the Rebekah wild card.

They did sour Lexi's character a bit but I actually do enjoy the Silas stuff so whatever lol to each his own. The girl stuff is lame tho, I agree Rebekah and Elena heading off to see Katherine doesn't sound THAT great hahah

i agree about the lexi/damon hookup. it wasn't a good look for either of them and makes damon eventually killing her seem that much more cruel. it also makes her look gullible. i also agree that i think the showrunners ended up liking lexi more than they probably anticipated and continuously tried to find ways to bring her back after they killed her off prematurely. this wasn't the way to do it though.

I think your judgements are quite fair. There’s always storylines or arcs that we don’t like that everyone else does. Like I also don’t like the whole Lexi sleeping with Damon thing. I don’t buy that she’s fall for it after how much experience she has helping vampires. I don’t always like when shows introduce a sexual/romantic backstory to explain tension and animosity. Her being Stefan’s friend was more than enough. Oh and to clarify Bonnie has been brainwashed for a while now. It was most clear after they left the island and she was talking about killing the next 12 people. I’d say Silas took advantage of her emotions from losing Jeremy. In all that Bonnie is annoying to watch right now and we’re not meant to be on her side even though we know the reasoning.

The goal is to do both shows at the same time and follow the watch order

Also yes, there are white witches. Also something that's been said several times. Remember the original family? How their mom was a white witch who was featured prominently in the show? How it was explained that all of the original family (sans the dad?) were witches but when they became vampires they were no longer witches cus of how all that works?

Shaun Kemmer

I mean I think it was pretty clear that she was brainwashed. Like hints of it in the very first few episodes with shane, more so when we find out he basically made her a ticking bomb that only he can manage, and once they're off the island she has completely changed. She sounds coocoo and wants to commit a massacre cus wee we can get everyone back it'll be easy wee. The way she instantly gets persuaded by silas, people in the show calling her brainwashed (though maybe unclear on how serious they think it is/how hard they believe it as they don't try to do anything about it) They should've snapped her neck, kept her in the basement etc (Elena) but Stefan didn't and they didn't try after. It would have been boring story-wise, but still doesn't really make sense for the characters. But bringing her with him to NY (if we're foregoing any plan to lock her up cus boring story-wise) isn't the dumbest idea in the world. Like she's fed up and would've ran away probably, but damon convinced her so he can keep her around/keep an eye out. I don't see how this is an extremely moronic decision, like she would've just ran off for sure, how is this worse? Silas plan already has been revealed? Sure there is more plot coming but, his plan has been revealed. Get cure, remove other side, die.

Shaun Kemmer

- Not liking Bonnie's storyline so far etc is fine, but I think it has been very clear that she's brainwashed. But it became Extremely clear when they got off the island. Her demeanor, her everything, casually saying hey I think we should have another massacre and bring back the dead all good. The part that feels a bit is annoying is you dogging on how much her character sucks, how dumb she's acting etc when the reasoning to me is clear. It was kiinda kept a bit vague (though, I think it wasn't really vague at all) for the 'twist' where she doesn't remember anything after the island - showing that yes, she was brainwashed and not really aware. The characters in-show even mention a few times that bonnie is brainwashed, like, it's not vague to me. And it's not just not liking the storyline, it's actually WANTING her to die right there that I find.. ye. Just look at any scene with her once they get off the island. The moment they're off she's off the rails, promoting massacres. sounding delusional saying hey we can bring everyone back ezpz. Her demeaner changing instantly when silas says don't u want jeremy back etc etc. - The getting-good-bonnie-back feeling like lazy writing is fair I guess. It can be seen as them having removed the brainwashing while trying to undo all the expression effects on her, or just messed with her head and amnesia, though I feel like it's the former. - It's like when you kept dogging on the fact that silas looks like shane over and over. This one was less obvious, to be fair, but it was shown from the start how silas is making people see things (their dead loved ones, in order to manipulate them into doing what he wants) and this episode it was explicitly said that he is chosing to appear as shane, and bonnie says that he won't show her true face to her. You said you read comments but I think people had mentioned/hinted at that for several episodes. - They said he looks like shane because bonnie/shane convinced bonnie's dad that she needs to see shane, to keep her magic in check, which was what the theatre with bonnie 'losing control' when her dad showed up was about. - And yeah Caroline killed 12 people, but Idk if you would've hated it as much if you didn't hate bonnie so much rn. She had to decide if she was gonna let one of her best friends fucking die or not and she was rushed and just acted. Yes silas has what he needs now, but we don't know what that means - it's not a guaranteed that everything else that silas wants to happen will. But letting her best friend die IS a guarantee of her dying. Doesn't matter what the other choice (not saving bonnie) entails, she couldn't let her die. If it had been kill Stefan matt or someone you liked, would you have thought "yeah just let them die. Wow ur a moron for killing the witches"? or "That fucking sucks but we couldn't let x die". If it's the first one then sure, idk, but if it's the second one then carolines action make sense. She doesn't hate bonnie.

Hey Steven, are you gonna watch The Originals after season 4 of TVD or you gonna finish it first? Also sorry if you've already answered this question

Christina mani

I didnt care for Bonnie for a long while by this point. I enjoy this season because I was also getting quite tired of the same old human Elena, at least things were fresh and all things with Klaus is always great. Just more of the reasons I slowly stopped watching and only watched The Originals.

Nikita Pascari

I think silas for the first time looked cool in this episode

I liked some of the things in this episode but I mean it's not my favourite. The most interesting part about this was all the conversations Klaus had with Caroline and Damon's past. Actually ever since season 3 whenever there was an original on the screen they kinda took over in my oppinion. :D I really find them interesting, especially Klaus since his character is very complex and Joseph Morgan really understands his character perfectly. I'm glad they got their own spin-off <3 It's also probably better since then we can also focus more on the other characters in the vampire diaries , cause for me a lot of the times the originals stole the show. But thank you for your reaction and for being honest! It's appreciated 🤗 The reason I love to watch reactions for this show is because every single reaction I have watched, they all have different oppinions about the plot, characters etc. Which is really cool cause it shows how the characters aren't really black and white and that there are so many ways you can look at things.

Jenni Laine

First, thank you for your honesty because I genuinely felt the same way. This season, I did not care for Bonnie at all (although I love Bonnie's character as a whole) I felt the writer's really dragged her character through the mud. Especially, with the way she's treated her dad etc. I felt there was a way better way her arc could've been handled to make it more clear whether this is of her own free will or brainwashing. Secondly, I hated Damon's idea of bringing Elena to NY. He's been known for being reckless but this just takes the cake. The Lexi situation did sour my thoughts on her character too – how is it that she fell for Damon's games yet is the master with the psychological. Made no sense to me. Silas' plans will all be revealed soon. Although, I think its dragging too long for me. Both with 1st watch and rewatch. This season w/ the cure always felt incredibly slow. Like the writer's were milking it a little too long. Great reaction! Appreciate the honesty because a lot of fandoms look back at old episodes and romantize them without seeing it from an object perspective. Which is fair tbh.
