2023-04-29 03:18:59 +0000 UTCLike others have said, San Junipero is basically Heaven on Earth and there's a choice to passover to be able to stay "alive" forever or not. Kelly's husband and daughter did not passover which is why we never saw them in San Junipero. Think of it as a virtual reality where your consciousness is your avatar that is free to do whatever you want, whenever you want, with other people just like you!

"San Junipero" as we saw at the end there was a whole "section" of this digital afterlife. All those people in there were other real people who chose to be there. These two found each other because they just...did. As people do.

The scene at the end with all the servers and the light bulb like things the robot arm was inserting. That was like USB drives of their consciousness being permanently plugged into the servers
