Lucas is easily the dumbest person in the main cast of the show he does so many mean and stupid things and his relationship with Peyton is awful they deserve each other cause they both definitely don’t deserve an amazing person like Brooke

I feel like the show tries to push this idea that Lucas was in love with Peyton before they ever spoke. They're supposed to be this written in the stars OTP but the way they act when they're pursuing each other/trying to be together is a little toxic for me. I feel like they like the idea of each other more than being together. I like them as characters even if they're not my favorites but I always prefer them as friends or people on their own than as a couple.

I agree, for me the point of this is that they are telling a story and that we all can relate to some point! Doing things impulsivly, being overwhelmed by emotion, peyton feeling fundamentally loneley and finding a kindered spirit in Lucas, forgetting everything else when in love, ( that is why Karen got pregnant with Lucas). I think it is very relatable. And it is possible to have sympathy for both brooke and peyton ( and Lucas).

I've come back again just to say it's interesting that there are a few comments that said they supported, or at least understood Lucas and Peyton's plight as teenagers but they have grown to hate what they are doing and, even, hate them for doing it. I just am thinking about what would happen if we just extended the grace that we had as teenagers and those overcharged feelings and emotions to Lucas and Peyton in that moment, seeing as they are also very young. I understand being upset at them and hating what they did, but my problem is that there's so much vitriol against these teenaged characters, like, come on.

I always rewatch to show for Naley ,Brooke and Dan lmao I get what y’all saying with Lucas and Peyton. Tbh I like Peyton but I feel like her character is annoying when it comes to Lucas and Lucas he’s dull and boring sometimes he has his good moments but out of the core five characters Lucas Haley Nathan Brooke and Peyton Lucas would have to be my least favorite it’s probably because I didn’t really connect with his character like I did with the others.

I always come back to this show for Nathan, Haley & Dan. I do think Lucas has interesting storylines when it comes to his family dynamic, particularly his relationships with Dan & Nathan. But his whiny, indecisive BS in his love life is boring as hell.

Lucas has his ups and downs but I have watched the show all the way through probably a dozen times an I have to agree that Lucas and Peyton are always the worst part of the show.

Not one word about how beautiful Haley’s voice sounds? I’m obsessed with it. I heard this song ONCE when I was a kid and it got stuck in my head for weeks. Yeah, I don’t know WHY I was Team Leyton when I was younger. I’m Team Brooke (without either Lucas or Peyton) cuz she deserves way better. They’re just horrible people. I think, as kids or teenagers, at least for me, it’s like we didn’t really understand how bad it is that they’re acting this way. Like, they love each other, “forbidden romance”, oh it’s so romantic!! Only when I’m older I’m like...wait a minute...they’re a bunch of dirty lying cheaters!! How could they do this to Brooke, who obviously doesn’t deserve this. For me, the blame goes 50/50 for Lucas and Peyton. Only an honest to God idiot would have thought hooking up with the girl you like’s BFF was a good idea, especially RIGHT AFTER they were making out and stuff. Peyton freaked but they still had feelings for each other. If he wanted a rebound, pick a girl that ISN’T her best friend. That’s just common sense and decency. And Peyton going around like hurting Brooke meant less to her than sticking her tongue down some boy’s throat?? What!?!? Honestly, I was always here for Naley. Lucas’ storylines never interested me. Ever. Can’t wait for you guys to continue reacting mainly for Nathan, Haley, Brooke and Dan.

Nathan and Brooke have always been my favorites, they are just superior characters always. I love Haley as well and I like Peyton, I am honestly not a fan of Lucas, sometimes he has his good moments but overall I agree he is kinda boring and not as interesting as the rest of them.

Exactly! That's what got me. She was still making out with him thinking he and Brooke were still together. Then she can have him and says no again... It's like she only wants him when she can't have him.

I’d probably say my character rankings change every season. But yeah I agree with you guys on Lucas being the least interesting as of this episode. My favourite would probably be Nathan and peyton. I was definitely loving Brooke at This point but she wasn’t the most interesting to me because her storyline involved Lucas. Like I want more backstory on her.

I love Nathan, Brooke, and Haley the most. Nathan is my favorite. Lucas is boring and I personally don't like him at all. And I am not a fan of Peyton either.

Might be a surprise but Lucas is one of the most hated characters in the show to be honest. Also I personally can’t stand Peyton. She only called things off with Lucas once he and Brooke broke up 😭 It’s weird. She was making out with him before he told her they broke up, so in her head she still thought Lucas and Brooke were together while she’s kissing him

i think the worst part of it all is that with all this, the show still tries to paint him as the one we're meant to side with and root for and i just can't ever get behind that. like he can be, as you said, super selfish and a dick at times and they still push this "lucas is the golden boy" type of vibe on the audience which i've never appreciated.

i've rewatched this show so many times and i always return to it solely for nathan and haley and brooke, not lucas or peyton lol it's funny, you start out the show detesting nathan, and as it unfolds you're like "nope, that's my favorite and i'll protect him at all costs" lol

I honestly don't like Lucas either, he is so annoying and too broody and whiney for my taste. He is kinda boring, he has his moments but it's not like crazy interesting and it doesn't help that he is literally a dick and super selfish at times.

Lucas broke up with Brooke in the worst way possible. "See... that's the problem." Holy crap, Lucas. Couldn't have let her down more gently than that? Peyton isn't turning the Brooke image into the comic strip. I think she just said she was working on a strip as an excuse. That was 100% Peyton drawing her feelings/guilt. Haley had to say something in the mall because she's really the only one that knows how to be friends with Lucas. In terms of Lucas' arc, I don't think he is a boring character. I think we are doing an interesting examination of his character who was lauded as the "good guy" and knocking him off of that pedestal, which I find interesting. I happen to care about him and Peyton because I found their relationship intriguing since the pilot episode, but everything has changed, just as the episode title suggests. We don't see Lucas play basketball because Chad (actor) really sucks at it lol That's the only reason why it we haven't really gotten many scenes lately.

You guys may not like Lucas now but his story takes time to develop and character change does not happen in a few episodes. With Nathan, it was more apparent that he had layers to him but the asshole version of him was propagated by his dad and by who he was supposed to be. But Lucas is kinda still searching for that, with basketball, with the girls, etc. So it will take time for him to change as a character. I equate it to watching a slow moving car crash. We're sort of seeing Lucas screw up more and more. All I will say is that he hasn't hit that rock bottom yet where he will have to start building back up.
