just joined the patreon to watch you watch glee! i just caught up and this episode is so heartbreaking, I think it's the "best" episode quality-wise is because personally, I don't care for the high school storyline much at all.

2021-07-17 19:37:17 +0000 UTCI totally agree with you, the way we're splitting focus between the "new glee club" and the now-adults like Rachel/Kurt/Finn/etc. is really hindering us from enjoying either. That's why for me the "real Glee" ended after the Nationals episode last season. That for me should've been the end of the show. Now, I tried enjoying the new vibe of the show but it never clicked as much for me as it did before. It becomes even more over-the-top unrealistic as it did before (like them flying in all the time etc). But at the same time, there were some episodes and story beats that I liked and that got me emotionally - like this episode. It makes sense why they all broke up and how their journeys unfolded.

2021-07-17 06:00:35 +0000 UTCHonestly I never got used to the new characters and sadly I always skipped the scenes that Finn or Rachel and older glee club members weren’t in. But yes Ryan Murphy, the producer is a b****. He ruined the show and many characters. That’s why I mostly just watch S1-S3 and a few episodes in S4/5 :/

2021-07-17 03:46:02 +0000 UTCI am going to disagree with you some on visiting your school. I had an English teacher in high school, Mr. Walton. He was my Mr. Schuster. He was a friend and mentor while I was there beyond just being a teacher. For years after high school whenever I was back in town I would just walk in the side entrance of the school and wander the halls and stop in to see Mr. Walton (and other teachers) with no problems. In between High School and College I spent two years at a trade school. They are a bit more strict than my high school. (Note: At my high school, visitors were asked to check in at the office, but the office was near the front door where the buses were, the student/staff parking lot was right by the side door so I always walked in that side door and never checked in) My trade school even a decade later whenever i'm in town, I always stop by and check in at the front desk as an alumni and they give me a badge and then I am free to wander the campus and go visit teachers, dorm staff, recreation staff etc. So I don't find any issues with people like Santana and Finn just hanging out at the school because for years I did that. Hell, I would do that still if I felt it was okay but now I have been out of high school for over a decade and walking around a high school in my 30's feels a bit more creeper than it did walking around at like 20. I also used to hang out a bit at the high school right after I graduated while I still had friends who were underclassman while I was a student there. Obviously once they all graduated I didn't swing by to see any of the students because at that point I didn't know any students anymore.

The music was top notch, with particular consideration to Santana's Mine, and, of course, Blaine's Teenage Dream (live). I was incredibly emotionally invested in this episode. The Finchel break-up was, to me, one of the best acted scenes of the entire show. However, I completely agree with you David on the Lima, Ohio storyline with the rapture, or whatever. First of all, they kind of just stuck it in this episode, although it was clear we wanted to follow Kurt/Blaine and Rachel/Finn. Even the Brittana + Wemma stuff was kind of stuffed into this episode just so they could have all of their main couples "break up." But the storyline in Lima was completely useless and irritating, and they didn't spend enough time developing Jake/Kitty OR Jake/Marley, for me to even care about anything that happened to them this episode. Kitty is an awful character too, much worse than Quinn and Santana had ever been, and less interesting of a character than any of the Glee girls and I don't understand the choice to center her in so many storylines. Also, having Blaine cheat... was a choice, that I am still upset with to be completely honest. Blaine has been characterized as sometimes lonely and a bit clingy, but having that lead into him cheating when he was so hurt by Kurt last season... is simply a plot hole to me.

2021-07-16 23:57:31 +0000 UTCRyan Murphy wanted a spin off of Rachel and Kurt in NY but it was rejected, so he decided to graduate half the club and bring newbies that I bet were intentionally weak so people would demand such spinoff and have his way but instead people were demanding more Santana, Finn, Mercedes, Quinn... the ones he'd let go from the cast. The damage was done and the show never really recovered. This is an example in which a producer is so full of himself and doesn't want to give the audience what they want but rather what he wants out of a whimp. Since this was one of the first shows that were heavily discussed on social media he resented that so he rather killed his own show just to spite the audience and not be criticized or be told what to do. Keep your expectations low. I don't like any storyline from this season but I enjoyed some performances.

But it will happen more often in the show, so you kinda (thats what i did) need to change your mindset, that it isnt a big deal at mckkinley. Also for some people can the two (mckinley and new york) storyline be a lttle confusing. I personally like it, because i love the new york stuff (its fresh and we still can see the original characters) but the show is also called glee, so its good that we still follow the glee club.But you will get used to it (since the entire show is gonna be like it) But dont worry, you also will see some episodes, with just the glee club haha

2021-07-16 22:37:35 +0000 UTCNow because of the change in security issues that school deal with now, versus the dark ages when I was a college student. I would assume that they have some security measures that they have to deal with in going to these after school programs. But when I was in high school and a young adult, a good chunk of the people who assisted after school programs were volunteers. And that was primarily broken into two groups. One recent graduates, who wanted to keep in contact to friends or activities they loved, and the other being parents who had kids or recently had kids in school. Hell our choir program, so 3 classes during the day, had an open door policy with former graduates. That and the theatre department was the only one that did though, for during school hours. Again after school, the most that would ever, ever happen was going to the office and getting the ok of the teacher. Of course now days, for the volunteers they have to have a break ground check done first. And they always must sign in when entering.

2021-07-16 22:26:59 +0000 UTCEven though Glee was at one time the 2nd biggest show on Fox (only after American Idol), after the Super Bowl episode the ratings continued a steady and consistent decline. So they didn't feel they could have the show move away from the Glee Club, and they feel like they couldn't move away from the students that graduated. And it absolutely hurt the narrative structure of the show.

And while I hate the cheating and the breakups, I actually loved how they did it. Having Blaine cheat, I loved, not because I want him to cheat, but because growing older I have often been utterly surprised about some of the people who I thought never would cheat but can. And for that same reason, I loved that Santana didn't someone (or Brittany) hasn't always shown a strong affinity to fidelity. Because you also have some people who you think might cheat, who end up never cheating. And unfortunately you can never know.

2021-07-16 22:10:46 +0000 UTCI definitely understand what you mean David. It is hard to enjoy the show when two different shows are basically smashed into one. It splits the focus too much and it doesn't give you time to really get to know and invest in the new characters. There will be moments of good things that happen in season 4-6 but it loses the overall magic it had in season 1-3.
