Johnathan's advice was sound. We saw how well Clark dealt with Morgan Edge. Lionel would destroy Clark and everyone he cared about

2021-07-26 05:17:32 +0000 UTCSo towards the end of the episode Johnathon saw how angry Clark was and the rage in eyes burning hot to get revenge on Lionel and he calmed him down by grounding him to reality. You see we as the audience all want clark to use his powers in some heroic fashion and get lionel but you have to understand that as Clark's father his number one priority is the safety of his son along with teaching him the correct way of going about things. Johnathon and his guidance is a very essential part of who clark becomes in the future i.e Superman. It's imperative in pivotal moments like these on character level where Clark, furious at this injustice taking place before him and knowing full well that he has the Strength and Speed ability to seek vengeance & make Lionel pay, that Pa Kent steps in and calms him down by quelling that impulsive feeling while also endowing wisdom of doing the right thing. That even though he has all these powers and literally can be a god he still has to abide by the rules and laws of mortal men. Imagine not having this type of GUIDANCE/DISCIPLINE but all that power, Clark would be dangerous individual to say the least. Plz try to see things from a fatherly perspective when watching Johnathon & Clark scenes, it'll make alot more sense. Plus he's a teenager age 17 so theres that.

If it was anybody else that knew about Lionel murdering his parents, he or she would be dead. But not Lex. He would rather have his brain fried and have his memory wiped so that Lex would forget about the incriminating stuff he has on him.

He was right this time as well, I mean think about it: Lionel can come after Clark's family, friends (especially Chloe) and it's not like Clark doesn't have any weaknesses. Plus he is still in high school, etc. There are plenty of reasons not to take this task to make Lionel pay at this time.
