In some states the birth mother has 6 months to change their mind (unless the laws in those states have changed in the past 5 years). The adoptive parent could be raising them for most of that time and then find out it's not their kid anymore.

2022-12-27 20:21:07 +0000 UTCThere is a cutoff point for biological mother to be able to change her mind, how long depends where you live I guess, but because of cases like this is exactly why it's still allowed a short time after the baby is born. The birth itself and seeing, hearing them for the first time, you can't know what's that like until you experience it, regretting giving up a baby for the rest of the life is too much of a mistake. But I agree that people should adopt more babies who are already born. If they really want a family it shouldn't matter that the baby is older than a few weeks or months, having the experience of having the baby from the very first minute shouldn't be more important. Don't know, maybe Cuddy did apply for this and didn't get chosen yet. But this is an incredibly unfair situation for her. I do not like the birthmother, but at least she spoke up right away and didn't wait 2 weeks.
