I LOVE Lex, however I can't agree with telling him the truth. It is very frustrating to watch Clark lie badly but he also knows who Lex is and what Lex is obsessed with. For example when "bad" Lex was out, Clark saw what he could be capable if he found out about his secret. And that Lex is still inside him, he didn't go away. I think Clark just looks at the kind of burden knowing his secret is for the people who know and also the kind of consequences to his own being knowing that could cause. Take Pete for example, his best friend, on many occasions he used Clark's secret against him. Pete. Now imagine Lex. I loved their friendship but if their friendship was the cost of Lex not finding out, I was okay with that.

2022-03-31 12:35:56 +0000 UTCAudio wasn't really messed up, you just seemed quiet at the start of the episode because the show audio was like 90% explosions so it was kinda hard to hear what you were saying, but it only lasted like a minute or two.

2022-03-30 11:37:09 +0000 UTCFor the record, yes those Phantom Zone FX looked goofy as hell, but it was for a reason: that was an exact recreation of how the Phantom Zone was visually portrayed in Superman: The Movie from 1978. So it kinda looked incredibly dated because really, it is. 😉 Also, Lex has done all kinds of shady stuff throughout this show (and lied repeatedly himself) and I don't blame Clark in the slightest for not trusting him any further than he (or rather, one of us mere mortals) could throw him.

Also Lex isn’t entitled to clarks truth, i get it we all WANT so much for them to be friends but also the fact that he’s crazily obsessed over it and has shown signs of untrustworthiness in the past would make Clark very weary of just telling him his most vulnerable secret. I mean shit he didn’t even tell chloe his literal best friend in the show and somehow he’s supposed to tell this sus dude lex. BTW I love lex as a character and Rosenbaum’s portrayal, this comment is more so for steven to give him perspective on the matter. And hellz yah i more than anything wanted them to be friends but it is what it is

And that wasn't the only Buffy alum in this episode. The male disciple of Zod was Riley's best bud Forest who got jealous of Buffy getting closer to Riley than he was and ended up getting turned into a demon-zombie hybrid by Adam and blown into pieces in Season 4.

Jor-el told Clark that he could cut his learning short in order to save Chloe as long as he returned before the sun set in Smallville to finish it. So after Clark trapped the disciples of Zod in the phantom zone the phantom zone broke through the window and we could see that the sun was setting. So Clark didn’t make it back to the Fortress of Solitude in time. Because of his disobedience, Jor-el took Clark’s powers as punishment. Hopefully that helps explain what happened, the significance of the sun setting after the fight and why Clark started bleeding just then and why Clark lost his powers

2022-03-30 03:35:58 +0000 UTCSo for this episode, I think it was more about dealing with the fallout of the finale (which had some big consequences) so the inclusion of some weak villains just to tease some things didn't bother me. If you think about it, these shows take a break over the summer so this episode was 3 months after the season 4 finale so people were really hyped and it delivered on things fans of superman would recognize. First is the fortress which you recognized. The triangle thing at the end with the villains is a reference to something in superman 1 but I won't say since it will get explained in the future. In general things will get explained for what they set up but for clarification, Jor-El did tell Clark to return to him by sundown and the sun set as he was holding Lana so he wasn't able to return.

The promotion for this season was crazy good at the time and right from the get go I knew this was going to be so good when I saw the new credits... I was like..."Oh snap no more high school." I hope you like the change but it's good I can't wait for your reaction here.
