i graduated in 2017 and i must say, this show does not feel relatable at all. And i went to a pretty shitty school. The most that happened is dudes smoking weed in the bathroom and a lot of fights. But like, nope, guess maybe this shit happened once i graduated.

It’s amplified but pretty realistic in how everyone is pressured to be sexual but especially girls and the lgbt community. When people feel alone and misunderstood the things that happen in this show make perfect sense.

For context, I am out of touch with teens. I'm in my mid-30's. I kind of thought this wouldn't be your thing. I watched your reaction just to see if it was basically what I thought it would be and it was. I barely made it through when it first came out. I definitely can't sit through an entire two seasons with you. Good luck though...I think you'll need it. All it did was make me sad that we're failing as a society. My issues is that there is no one likeable in this show. Also, I know I sound "old," but this glorifies drug use and sex for young people. That's incredibly sad to me. People ARE going to be influenced by this show and think it's at the very least acceptable...and at worst..."cool" (to use an old word) to do this kind of stuff. It makes me sad for today's youth. That's a big reason Hollywood took out smoking in movies, especially those aimed at teens. It was making it look cool to kids. It's like making a show about the downfall of our society and how apparently...people are failing as parents. Idk how people praise this. I honestly don't. I'm sorry if I'm being harsh.

Nate clocked that with the whole "I know what you are" spiel. so it basically has all of the connotations you think it has. Cassie is the blonde girl, and no, Nate was never with her. In terms of "likeable" characters, at the end of the day, no one is particularly likeable, but they are all very fleshed out. Empathy will be your best friend in navigating this show. I have my own qualms with this series, and you raised some of them during this episode. The writing is either stellar or extremely questioonable lol But I think this show does attempt to humanize and explain why people are the way they are and why they do the things they do. Either way, you immediately identified a fan favorite in Fez lol Is this show relatable? Yes and no. It wasn't at all like my high school experience, but I have heard other people say that it was.

Also, this show is A LOT. Almost every episode has just as heavy of vibes. It’s very artistically done and has a very stylish presentation. The creator is a recovering drug addict himself so a lot of what Rue is going through is very true to his life.

The stories are wild but somewhere out there I'm sure someone relates. I personally don't relate to any of the characters but I enjoy watching such flawed characters and crazy ass plots are entertaining. That being said, this show isn't for everyone, it can be too much and too graphic and so it's ok if you don't feel like you can stomach it, I wouldn't blame you. If you choose to continue and need any trigger warnings let us know! Cassie: Blonde, Lexi's sister Lexie: Pee bottle girl, Cassie's sister Rue: Zendaya of course Maddy: Black hair, in the pool, Nates ex Kat: Short hair, Lost virginity Gia: Rue's Sister Jules: The girl on the dating apps who went to see the older guy Mckay: dating cassie, friends with Nate Nate: Asshole tall guy, Maddy's ex Fez: The drug dealer and the only one you like Ashtray: Little kid drug dealer

2022-04-01 03:14:23 +0000 UTCwe ALL hate nate LMAO. i do like characters like fez and ash. i like maddy but she does have a lot of flaws and mistakes…. i really hope the show grows on you it’s really good. it’s a very raw show so it can be weird but it does a good job on showing how things really are. a lot of the characters backstories are relatable and i think that’s why alot of us connect with them. for example i relate to cassie and maddy alot. SEASON ONE CASSIE TO CLARIFY LMFAO ALSO the girl jules that was injecting her thigh is transgender so she was injecting herself with estrogen i believe pls correct me if i’m wrong on the hormone name😭 another thing is the soundtrack is soooo good this season, if you liked the first song they played it’s by labrinth if you wanna check him out he does the majority of the soundtrack for the show and he’s so good!

2022-04-01 02:48:10 +0000 UTCyour post show comments were spot on. i hope you don't get hate for not loving the first episode and having valid criticisms. the show does a lot really well and there are better episodes coming up...but the show also has a lot of issues/problems and you've already pointed out several of them. i'd say stick with it though...some of the best episodes and storylines are still to come.
