Lexa didn't really have a choice when it came to killing her right hand man, she didn't want to, you could tell that in the scene, but if she didn't she would have shown weakness and gone against her people's way. I don't think that would have worked out well for her, even her right hand man knew she had to kill him. Also, that was crazy when the guard got her arm ripped off, I was expecting her to turn around with an arrow in her or something, was not expecting the arm.
