A few more notable names: Mathesar, the leader was Veronica Mars' dad! Sigourney Weaver is most famous for being the tough Alien killer, so having he be "the babe" that repeats the computer was a joke all on its own.

2022-04-22 06:30:38 +0000 UTCGwen's top is unzipped because there is a cut scene were they encounter an alien and she tries to seduce the alien. It was cut from the final cut. And yes your correct the show originally had stronger references to drugs, and some more adult language and some more sexual comments that freaked the studio out when they got the cut of the film. It absolutely wasn't what they were expecting.

2022-04-16 05:35:14 +0000 UTCSo yeah, this was popular especially among Star Trek fans because it was both poking fun at the genre and also paying homage to it. That's why they had a lot of the little details in the film. You were right about the rating btw. Originally this movie was rated R. It had some dicey stuff in it apparently. However, the studio thought that it wasn't what they had green lit and they wanted it to go head to head with some of the kids movies out at the time. Stuart Little was big then I think. So they cut up the movie and removed all questionable stuff until they got to the PG rating. They should have left it...kids wouldn't really get this movie. This was for older fans that, at the time, nearly everyone had seen at least an episode or two of Star Trek. Anyway, I love this movie! All the little stuff they threw in...like the fact that everything is solved by pressing the blue button. The Captain even comments about how easy it is...making fun of easily solvable dilemmas in shows like this. That's also why Gwen's (Sigourney Weaver) top was open and Tim Allen's shirt came off...they had to always find a way to get people naked even if it didn't have anything to do with the plot. They still do that today of course lol. The fact that they didn't point it out in Galaxy Quest was just a nod to the fact that they didn't have a reason behind it.
