You asked this before but the actress that plays Rebekah wanted to spend more time with her family and friends after TVD and was not expecting to commit to a long-term role (The Originals was never meant to spin off into its series, but the characters were so popular). She was originally supposed to play Rebekah for a few episodes when she signed on for TVD. But she loves the character, so she keeps coming back occasionally. And she lived in Australia (where sheโs from), so that was a factor as well.
