This is a really strong episode. I really like Kat's character and actually think she is the most "relatable" out of them all. How she basically lives her entire life on the Internet and through fantasy. I am not thrilled about this storyline for her for a thousand reasons, most of all, because a minor doing s*x work is never empowering and even if the character feels that way at first, I do wish this storyline was handled with more care. It does make sense for her character, who has really only experienced online validation to continue in this way, but I think much of it is not written very well. Also, I really liked Jules this episode. Jules was pretty immediately my favorite character and I cannot wait for you to learn more about her. Jules isn't fully transitioned, but you'll learn more about her transitioning story very soon. And while Jules meeting "tyler" in the middle of nowhere isn't smart, Jules also raises a good point about how trans people have to navigate their sexual and romantic relationships - usually very much in secret at late hours. And she was genuinely charming and fun this episode. Finally, the scene with Rue at Fez's door is such a great scene. Not only does it show Rue's pain and Fez's care for Rue, but kind of the full cycle of an addict and that unadulterated desperation now that they use drugs so they don't have to face that pain. It's a vicious cycle.

2022-04-27 04:11:43 +0000 UTCnot sure if you've noticed this yet...but every episode focuses on the backstory of a different character. episode 1 had rue's backstory, episode 2 had nate's, episode 3 had kat's. episode 4 will focus on a different character. formatting the episodes this way is one of the things about the show i really like. im curious if your opinions about the show will change after episode 4. i think it's the best episode of season 1.
