i disagree. harper is probably my favorite character (at least in the later seasons). i think she’s a bit more air headed BEFORE she finds out but afterwards she is really funny and enjoyable to watch imo

2022-05-06 13:18:43 +0000 UTCI didn't realize people weren't fans of the episode. To me, it is one of the most memorable of the series, and I enjoyed it a lot! And Harper is a super gullible character... that's kind of her schtick. And it is very common for the "best friend" especially in kids' TV. And even then, she is technically still quite smart. Book smart, at least. So, I like it when we see how much Alex cares Harper in order to kind of save her from herself. And establishing that from early on, helps build their relationship outward as the series continues in my opinion. And I really liked the interrogation from the Emergency Wizard peeps. The chandelier bit is obviously not the best, but nine year old me was living for it (like adult doing the most irresponsibly dangerous thing! It was kind of funny). I also think the ending with Gigi is very classic mean girl gets what's coming to her. And they tend to pile that on harsh.

2022-05-05 21:00:09 +0000 UTCnot gonna lie, this episode didn't hit the mark for me. while gigi is a bully, the chocolate cake PLUS the iced tea PLUS the tiara all just felt very overly cruel. plus i'm not a fan of the storylines of harper being so stupidly stubborn that she's willing to put herself in some sort of danger and then gets mad at alex for wanting to protect her and keep her safe and alex ends up apologizing. it made me realize how much i dislike harper's character. she could have been so cool if they put her on level footing with alex. but she's so painfully dumb and to me, that's not humor. she feels at times more like a character from a skit and not a supporting role as a best and uplifting friend. and i don't even want to mention the chandelier scene. it had its really funny moments yes, but those were often one-liners while the prolonged jokes (repeatively being mean to gigi, the chandelier, harper being.....whatever that is) are the ones that just didn't land for me.
