I'm with what Andrea said above...if you are already enjoying it then you'll love it later. The first season is kind of a warm-up for the show. It's just a short season and it only gets better. Then again...Steven might have told you that.

2022-05-08 01:19:14 +0000 UTCAs to you wondering why Buffy was already the Slayer when the show began: Joss Whedon (the creator) had been trying to sell the idea for years and a few years before the series began they made a Buffy movie. Different actress for Buffy, totally different tone and quite cheesy. You can watch it at some point but it has basically nothing to do with the series.

2022-05-07 05:52:00 +0000 UTCSo this was basically part 2 of a two-part pilot, and Jesse was put into that pilot to die. It's the old HItchcock method of "introduce a character you THINK is gonna be a main character and then kill them off in the first act" to establish "no one's safe" stakes. Apparently Whedon even wanted to put him into the opening credits to further trick people into thinking he was a lead, but they didn't have the budget to do a separate credits sequence for a one-off gag. You already seem to be enjoying this show far more than I did in S1 (and it eventually became one of my favorite shows ever), so I think you're really gonna LOVE the ride. 😁
