I agree it would've been interesting to see House pain free longer. We only get glimpses of it, one episode here and there. This whole storyline could've been easily stretched out for half a season, see how he deals with being so different and how it affects him as a doctor. But it kinda makes sense it lasted so shortly, House is definitely bad with any kind of significant change, he also seems terrified of allowing any kind of happiness, because if he gets comfortable with it and it gets taken away, that's hard to deal with, while he already figured out how to deal with and live with his usual misery.
