2021-12-31 00:19:48 +0000 UTCFor me, Richard's look at the end is him finally dropping his rose-colored glasses and seeing that they supported Rory going down the wrong path and that Lorelai was right about everything. He feels so heartbroken and guilty that he let that happen.

But he didn't have to do that in the first place, especially him knowing that she's dating his son and that he's friends with her grandparents, there was bound to be some bad blood bc of that comment. But yes, Rory's choices bc of his criticism are absolutely her own and he is not responsible for that.

Also i LOVE the emily roast it gets me everytime you can see Shira look around during it so i personally think emily did do it in front of people to embarrass her because she moved her to the center table first and the writers had emily say hi to someone walking by right before she turned in on her!

2021-12-23 05:55:08 +0000 UTCI interpret Richard’s look as disappointment, seeing Rory wasting her talent and ambition on a DAR event…essentially turning into Emily’s clone. I could be way off base but that’s just how it comes across to me. I think Emily stressing over the event is a fear that if Rory does really well in the DAR and all the women love her then Emily will be obsolete. Emily’s takedown of Shira was perfection, one of the few times she’s done the right thing, it doesn’t often happen so I respect the hell out of her for doing it.
