Also of note is that Cobie Smulders wasn't a name in 2004. HIMYM would only start one year later, Avengers is 8 years into the future. For the casual viewer the woman in the background with the glasses could easily have been missed.

Claims he cannot trust Lex because Lex keeps things from him but uhm, is Clark the pot or the kettle in this relationship? Now he feels like he can trust Lionell more than Lex. I love this show, but 9 times out of 10 I really dislike Clark!

They wouldn't know what to call it, so anything that fell from the sky or had been discovered would be labeled as magic without the proper knowledge to understand it is not magic. Falling stars were seen as either magic or death omens.

2021-12-23 23:25:40 +0000 UTCSome of the animosity towards Lex this episode comes from this being a mid 2000s tv show on a public television network with strict guidelines. Showing a character sleep with multiple people and be careless about it wouldn't fly as easily since hookup culture is more of a recent thing than during the 2000s. You can even see it on other WB shows like One Tree Hill where they are careful not to have girls or guys sleep with everyone. Clark here is the only real person who can criticize Lex as he is the closest person to him besides Lionel. The next few episodes are some of my favorites. There are some gems this season now that we passed episode 8 (which is usually on people's worst smallville episode lists). We are inching closer to the midpoint of the series so there are only so many episodes before things start changing and the status quo starts evolving

2021-12-23 08:28:38 +0000 UTCThe scenes with Clark and Lex and Lionel and Lex are absolutely superb in this series. It's also a testament to the writing of lionels character and the acting by the actor that you cannot tell whether its a play or not. We'll see

2021-12-23 07:38:18 +0000 UTCThe not recognizing her thing is an homage to the Clark/ Superman thing with Clark wearing glasses. She wasn't wearing glasses and then she was when she was at the Mansion so it's suppose to be like how people don't recognize Clark as Supes.
