I love Taylor! She's so fun and quirky.

Marissa fed into his savior’s complex way too much and hindered him from evolving and growing as a person. Also Ryan constantly saving Marissa out of the messes she gets herself in keeps her from fighting for herself. It just could not work and I think in season 3 they both figured that out. As for Ryan and Taylor, I think they are a great match. He boosts her confidence and she lets him enjoy life a bit more. He is never bothered by her Taylor-ness and she always sees right through him without him having to communicate it. They’re opposites yes, but it tryly works. Plus the chemistry between them is fantastic.

2022-01-03 17:54:29 +0000 UTCLike a lot of the other comments, the tea was untouched in the last shot so he slept without the help of the tea. Also, Taylor/Ryan definitely feel more like Summer/Seth in terms of chemistry and balance. Opposites attract and in the case of Ryan/Marissa it can't just be from where they came from. Their personalities and characteristics should have potentially been different. Thinking about the series more, I can't help but feel like Ryan saw Marissa as something to fix/help and he kept trying to but ultimately it was too much by season 3. Like first it was her family situation, then her alcoholism, then Oliver, then her mom sleeping with Caleb, and then getting her to come back home after she moved out. Seasons 1 and 2 were filled with Ryan coming to Marissa's rescue, to a point where I think in season 3, they consciously tried to show that Ryan had to let Marissa go and solve her own problems. He finally got fed up enough that he gave up after Johnny's death, only to get wrapped up again in her problems at the end of the season with volchak stuff. Ryan/Taylor feel different, since their chemistry and back-and-forth isn't based on an overlying plot to save Taylor. It seems more natural and I think it's because Taylor has agency and a character.

2022-01-02 11:31:29 +0000 UTCThey showed us that tea was still untouched, so that wasn't the reason he fell asleep. It was Taylor.

2022-01-02 11:29:40 +0000 UTCTotally agree on Taylor and Ryan's chemistry. Waaay more palpable than Ryan/Marissa's ever was, imo. Worth noting, when Marissa died, she and Ryan were not together. Sure they were in a good place...but as friends (with perhaps some lingering romantic feelings). Ryan hasn't actually dated anyone in quite a while. Since Sadie, I think. Also, the key detail you seem to have missed at the end and why the last shot was a close-up of the tea: Ryan had not touched the tea, so that had nothing to do with his sudden ability to sleep. They were going with the narrative that Ryan couldn't sleep because he no longer had something to wake up for, no reason to look toward tomorrow, now that vengeance against Volchok was off the table, since that was his sole driving force for months. So I think the implication here is that this budding relationship with Taylor has given him a renewed, Volchok-free reason to look forward to tomorrow.
