I think the problem with later Supernatural is the fact that its not focused. There's like different eras of the show that fans refer to because of the different showrunners and what they wanted to really focus on. Yeah a lot will say Supernatural should have ended after 5, and maybe so, but as you've seen there's still so much story to tell and explore. Trust me, there's even more you would have never even have dreamed of. Would it have been great if Supernatural planned out all from the start? Sure, but let's be real, they kept it on air cuz the fans wanted it and the actors wanted to continue doing it.
