Also keep in mind that Ryan and Marissa weren't really dating during season 3 so while she was important to him they weren't exactly dating for awhile before she died

And Marissa and Ryan had been broken up for a while before she died so I don't think it's unrealistically soon for him to start dating again.

As someone who lives less than an hour away from Newport Beach/OC, it would be pretty unsettling for you to find out how much statutory rape happens among that privileged community. Just shocking how much it was glorified back then on tv. Oh. And Taylor rules, I don't recall that much fan backlash for her and Ryan. Even little so now that Marissa is less and less of a popular character as people go back and watch the series without teenage eyes.
