Alex and Peter has such great chemistry, absolutely on fire! Probably my favorite River/Doctor dynamic.

It punches well at the time, but punches even harder now that it has increased meaning. I see what you are saying about The Doctor being older. But technically any one that comes after, is both older and made older by that lived experience. Perhaps mildly fortuitous that Capaldi is an older actor, giving the character the outer appearance of age as well.
