At the start I think we all were kind of expecting this to be a lead into a spin off for Harrison but there really wasnt enough character building to justify it. And they cut a lot of corners to get to the ending they had here. I still think its one of the best seasons and I am not exactly mad about the ending. I think a 2nd season to build all the characters more and maybe not make this ending feel so rushed. But thats the problem with shorter seasons. You always talk about how long seasons have too much filler. But some shows like stargate have filler episodes with huge future implications. Filler isnt always bad. I would rather have too many episodes to flesh things out than not enough episodes and end up with rushed endings like game of thrones season8. Where they went in game of thrones was being forshadowed for a long time. The fact that we went from like slow decline to a straight fall off a cliff over half an episode was just awful. That being said there are some shows like super natural where having the longer seasons then the show lasting for so damn long I dont even want to rewatch it because most of that filler is just meh. Though Stargate is also very long and I enjoy most of that

I thought the ending was enjoyable enough, better than the previous couple of seasons but still not as good as Seasons 1-4

Ah, so not different opinions - yours is the right one, anyone complaining can be dismissed has not having a good reason? Nothing wrong with liking it, hating it, or anything in between.

I'm probably the only one on Earth who thought this was a great series with a perfect ending... fitting to the Dexter character. But hey, fandoms complain if it isn't the ending they fantasy booked themselves so it is what it is.

I liked a lot of the series, but a very meh ending. I rolled my eyes during the scene where he gave Harrison the gun originally, I knew instantly he was going to shoot Dexter for the end - it was both obvious it was going to happen, and seems like they wanted to force a "punishment" type ending that a vocal minority wanted originally. It has so many problems as well, why did he need to be shot? How is that not even more damaging than Dexter just leaving? And Harrison goes on his innocent merry way now? His "darkness" that was there before Dexter told him anything, had been for years, isn't real suddenly he just magically knew he wanted to be like Dexter without knowing anything about that part of him? He had no issue watching people be killed and being satisfied by it, only showing any problem when there was too much blood and even Dexter had a similar issue once with too much blood. And the kill through the bars earlier was just silly. It seems like they had one thing they wanted to force the storyline to reach, and cared less and less about how they reached it towards the end.

this was a good finale until the last half of the episode. once dexter killed the coach...i feel like this episode went completely off the rails. it doesn't make sense that he would attack coach logan just to break out of prison. it's messy for no reason. even if he hadn't killed the coach...the coach still would've seen him escape and dexter/harrison would always be on the run. what kind of life is that to give your son? angela calling batista and batista saying he was on his way to her was pointless since we never saw him come down. everything building up to harrison/dexter bonding over their dark passenger ended up being pointless too, because in the end...harrison chose to reject his dark side by way of killing dexter. there were just so many missed opportunities and unnecessary twists/turns in this finale. the season as a whole was promising (and way better than season 8 of dexter)...but i really did not like the way the storylines finished out. very messy. they built up things that never played out or got resolved.

But, thank you so much for hanging in there through all 9 seasons. Really enjoyed watching this with you.

So many reasons I hated this. What ever happened to Dexter getting shot? Dexter wouldn't want Harrison to have a darkness. Harrison has read that letter hundreds of times, he would have understood Dexter better. Instead he just hates him. They tried to "Walter White" Dexter in 15 minutes where BB took 6 seasons to make us hate him and think he deserved to die. If they had done a voiceover with the letter at the end of 8 in the cabin in the pacific northwest, that finale would have been better. Instead, this whole season was made to kill Dexter off because MCH wanted out of the franchise. But they chose to completely change Dexter. He wasn't smart anymore. Dexter would have tried to figure a way out, not panic and kill Logan. Dexter and Batista were close, he could have worked it out. I would have liked to see him try. Yes, I didn't want Dexter to die, but how does it make sense for Dexter to turn Harrison into a murderer? Now he has to live the rest of his life with the guilt of killing his Dad? Ugh!

Janet Daurity

Her telling Harrison to run made no sense to me. It would have been self defense but then she says she did it so he wouldn't have even been involved. I don't get it.

I was a little bummed. I either wanted to see his interaction with Batista or have a season with him on the run. Or both.

Rebeccaf87

Still would have preferred he been arrested and they could of done a season 2 with the trial etc. However I did like the ending. Incredible show. End of an era. Still hoping for torchwood to begin lol. Thanks again
