I feel like how they wrote Sam in Season 4, just makes his moments here really hard to buy. I do buy it, because Season 3 Sam, I think, could have definitely been positioned to be the "new Finn." He's just as talented as Finn was, if not more, and he was actually a sensible character at that point. I don't think he carries the same presence as Finn did in the club or onstage, but he is clearly likable, and has tons of ideas and charisma. I would believe in his leadership. And although in Season 4 and 5, they have been doing virtually nothing about him literally being the on student council, it is a leadership position and he has been doing a lot of work with Blaine in student council and in Glee Club to boost morale and prepare a number of performances. And didn't Sam come up with the Guilty Pleasures lesson and a lot of what went into the Gaga performance? He also added the "sex" into the Sectionals performance in Season 3. He totally has it in him to be the leader - I just think a lot of people are letting worse writing moments for him take over for the fact that he is actually quite capable of being a leader. It was really nice seeing Mercedes this episode. It feels like it's been SO LONG (has it been since the Quarterback episode?) I am CRAVING story from her at this point - I actually think her following her music career is super interesting and is even more interesting than Rachel/Santana and their Broadway shenanigans. I get juggling locations is difficult, but idk, it's weird that Mercedes hasn't visited New York yet anyways. I thoroughly enjoyed every performance at Nationals. Like truly. Tina and Blaine's vocals blew me away on More Than A Feeling and it makes me mad the only other time she sung lead at a competition was freaking Gangnam Style. Their choreography was kind of trash, but that's to be expected at this point. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking for resonated emotionally and was just a solid performance. America was great too. I LOVED Throat Explosion's performance and it's probably one of my favorite competition performances. That's why I like the decision of New Directions being a runner-up. Marley... sigh... it's a shame that her character kind of went nowhere. I can't pretend to care about her storyline in this episode, or her as a songwriter. I liked Mercedes talking to her, I guess. And finally, I really liked the role that Burt and Carole played in this episode. Not only was it great to see them, but it just made the Finn tribute all the more powerful. Love them. <3

I Am Not Chamari

The show keeps boosting Sam to a standard he just can't hold. He's not that talented to be a leader for the club and it only makes his flaws more apparent. They had Marley and Unique and just gave them almost nothing with a forgetable song like "America" that nobody knows. Even ghost Finn could'nt get a win and tthat's sad. How the show went with it is beyond me.

Capri Zonica

It feels weird watching the Ryder and Marley moments knowing the real life backstory. I am glad that they kept celebrating Cory in a realistic way.

This episode really starts off my love for the rest of the season. I know some do not like the change that happens for the second half of the season but for me it gives the show new energy and I get to see more of my OG favorites.

Veronica _R_T

i love that Skylar Astin is here!! he has an incredible voice and i wish we could see more of him tbh (i don't think the pitch perfect movies really gave him a lot of spotlight, except on the first one) and it's much more enjoyable to know he was on broadway with Lea Michele (rachel), Jonathan Groff (jesse) and Phoebe Strole (nurse penny) in Spring Awakening in 2006-2008, glee is always a big reunion! and i love how much tina we've seen and heard sing in this past 3 episodes!! finally!!!

2022 and i still cry at the exact same moment during their performance...

The Finn flashbacks really hurt this episode I always get emotional when they start showing them. Even though there were times where I might not have been the biggest fan of what was written for Finn he was definitely an overall good leader of the Glee Club. This episode plus the next 2 episodes are my favorite from this season. Overall though I really like this season so much better than Season 4.

Morgan
