Jason's heel turn really came out of the blue. This was due to real-world consequences. Originally Jensen was considered to be there for (at least) two seasons. But then Supernatural came around which starts parallel to Smallville's 5th season, so they had to write out Jason somehow.

Dude love is deaf, blind and dumb for a reason :) To me it makes perfect sense. There was not much buildup but it makes perfect sense for me. Prom brought up all those high school moments in a fit of nostalgia and everything, made people more aware of their feelings and more brave as well. Clark and Lana at the end of the day (which in this case is prom) they know, they always knew ever since season 2 (Clark obviously before that) who they really want to be with. It's perfect for me because even though they might not be meant to be together they are each others end game in their hearts.

2022-02-24 08:18:49 +0000 UTCI feel like this episode is a just fun smallville episode. Sure in the context of prom episodes, it doesn't have the drama and plot centered around prom itself. It's more about the characters realizing that this is a once in a lifetime moment and it should be spent with the people you care about. The villain in the story just was there as a mystery to solve and a little example of how the vanity of prom isn't why its special. I don't know, I really dug the character interactions this episode. We got a bit more Lois, she was pretty supportive of Clark getting a dance with Lana. I think a big thing too was that Clark always wanted a dance with Lana. It's the end of the pilot episode (set to Everything by Lifehouse). Clark is at least not supposed to dance with Chloe at this moment. He doesn't feel anything towards her and while Chloe has a newfound appreciation for him due to his powers, there was nothing that really made sense for them to dance. Lana coming back into Clark's life like this is a bit unexpected, so is the Jason stuff. But I can talk about that more once the season is over since there is some real life stuff that is coming into play with these plotlines.

2022-02-24 05:36:27 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed this episode. I think it's because all the actors are obviously having such a fun time pretending to be Dawn. If I had to pick a favorite performance I think it has to go to Annette O'Toole (Martha Kent). From her dancing in the kitchen to her rolling her eyes at Clark and telling him "You and Lana are soo last year", she killed it.
