2022-09-22 08:53:09 +0000 UTCI am not a fan of Leyton, but I don't think Brucus was being built up the last 2 seasons, especially last season. Peyton was always an issue between them for Brooke. She was never going to get over that unless she could fully trust what Lucas was saying. It doesn't matter what Lucas said if she didn't believe it. They continuously fought about what Brooke thought his priorities were. Lucas was way too close to Peyton given what he knew were the issues in his relationship with Brooke. For me, he should have distanced himself from Peyton; Sacrificed his friendship with Peyton to salvage his relationship with Brooke. He couldn't do that. His friendship was more important than his relationship. Is it a sacrifice that is fair? Maybe not, but Brooke, who's a child, who is not over that hurt, would have thought so. Leyton is the cause of their issues and it would have gone along way to prove to Brooke that he was serious. There were plenty of Leyton clues throughout season 3. Plus, there was the Naley aspect. Brucas and Naley were connected with the same obstacle keeping them apart, trust. Lucas and Haley had to regain trust and prove they meant what they said. Haley said she loved Nathan and was not going anywhere and Lucas said he loved Brooke and was over Peyton. Haley sacrificed music and touring for Nathan. "It's a shame she's not touring. She must really love you." Lucas needed to sacrifice Peyton for Brooke. I was not shocked they went back to them. I just didn't like the way it played out. Tearing down their friendship once again for Lucas.

2022-09-21 19:48:49 +0000 UTCI actually dislike Leyton even more because of the real life situation. They spent the last two seasons building up Brucas. With Lucas specifically saying he loved Brooke and not Peyton that it now feels forced because of the real life situation.

2022-09-17 04:58:07 +0000 UTCYah i personally am watching this show along side steven as I am a new viewer to the show, I used to just literally watch the show ep by ep with him and react in real-time but quickly realized after some episodes that he's quite nitpicky over the smallest things, and sometimes how he takes things is sooooo far off of how i'd take things its crazy, I'll give 1 example but there are many, when Nathan crashed his car he obviously was going through a crazy amount of depression in regards to haley to the point he wanted to end it all, I fully got that and therefore felt so bad for him and that scene really hit, but his reaction to the crash was "you're stupid" and he completely missed the mark on his depression, I was like WTF!!..... I love his reactions but i'm glad at that point I would watch the episode before watching his reaction, cuz it would've been too distracting, watching the show and simultaneously being pissed and dumbfounded at his reaction

2022-09-17 04:47:42 +0000 UTCWith regards to the Peyton and Lucas relationship, so far into the show I've been a Brucas fan and hated the whole triangle, but recently i've done some research and found that the actors for brooke and lucas were actually an item & even married and had quite a nasty divorce. After learning all the details I for the Life of don't know how they had both in the show simultaneously, I mean how awkward must it have been *chills*. Post knowing that I am now alot more into the peyton and lucas storyline, NGL they're actually doing a good job with it as well with the (he's her savior) theme constantly being brought up.

The Derick chasing peyton was done very well minus some of the over the top shots imo lol. Yo, This Nick guy being a teacher at this school omfg, i can already see the issues that'll pose lmao. Tbh I kinda liked that Dan didn't help Haley the way she thought he would, it kept a level of consistency to his character, that displayed that even though he's tryna change He's still the Dan who won't shy away from doing the fucked up thing if he deems it necessary

Even while the response to Peyton bothered me, I wasn't surprised by it after seeing how others have responded to victims this year, and what they think they should or shouldn't do. At the age of 12, I was a victim myself and I didn't resist. Despite having been raised to fight no matter what since I was a child, I froze. In all honesty, even at 33, I probably would still freeze. I despise that, but it's something I can't control unless I train my body to do so, since what your body does in those circumstances is often a reflex, not a choice. Steven's reaction that Peyton was "being kind of dumb" for not noticing the warning signs also didn't sit well with me. The experiences this girl has had in her early life have all been centered around abandonment. She is working so hard to open up emotionally to someone because with Ellie, she put it off until it was too late. She is making an effort to avoid doing the same thing with her brother. And we must keep in mind that Ellie's scenario began quite similarly, with Lucas giving her a reason to doubt her (because he saw her buying drugs). She just feels like he's being overly protective once more. She is not being foolish by holding out hope.

2022-09-17 01:46:16 +0000 UTCI never got the impression Nathan was pissed at Haley or held it against her or it having any bearing on his reaction. She didn't tell him because she didn't know how. (He seemed more mad that she didn't want to go to the press conference 🙄). Like she told Lucas last epi, Nathan was so close to his dreams and this would just change everything. On some level she knew how he would react even though she also knows he's not Dan. I think her conversation with Lucas gave her the courage to tell him. As for her blurting it out when she did, after news of his scholarship, it makes sense considering that was the reason she was holding back. He was mad and scared because this just made his dreams a little harder. Perfectly realistic and understandable for his character, but I'm glad he figured it out quickly, which shows growth that he didn't drag this out. I couldn't handle Nathan being Dan for an extended period of time. When he told his mother about the scholarship and going to the press conference, but not about her grandchild. I'm like really Nathan. For Stephen, Haley went to Dan because she felt that he was the only one that could get through to Nathan since he too was in a similar position. When she invited Dan to their wedding she was under the impression that Keith's death gave Dan perspective on his choices and that he wanted to change. That invite was an invitation back into Nathan's life. They talk now. Nobody knows what Dan did. (Well, like we saw at the end, someone knows.) They think he's trying to be better and maybe he is, but he still did what he did.

2022-09-16 23:34:19 +0000 UTCok ok well a) there is a reason they revealed "Derek" as a stalker this early which will become apparent soon b) Lucas and Peyton are teenagers!! they don't know how to deal with a violent stalker, let's face it most adults don't either. pls give them a break! as for Nathan: I think his reaction was pretty realistic. this child was not planned and is gonna affect his entire future - he has a right to be scared and he was also still a little pissed Haley kept this from him. the important part is that he made the right decision in the end.

2022-09-16 17:19:28 +0000 UTCI have to say, I have so many issues with your reaction to Peyton in this episode. In particular calling her out for not fighting back... she's petrified! This guy is solely focused on hurting her. This isn't a comic book, she has no fighting skills, she didn't know what to do (as many women who experience real domestic abuse don't). Luckily Peyton had Luke and Derek to help her. And she was trying to go in the house, but he was literally right there and had also cut the phone lines making being in the house one of the worst places for her. The best thing for her to do would have been to run and scream for help. Also, saying what does he want from her seems incredibly naive, what do most violent stalkers want from someone they're obsessed over. It so frustrating when men have these viewpoints in these types of scenes, many just don't seem to take in that this kind of violence happens to women all the time. Adding to that, implying automatically, 'that's racist' to seeing the real Derek having been arrested and not even considering he could be her half brother when the police even say, 'that's the Derek from the letters you gave us', was irony at it's best. Black men are obviously targeted by the police all the time, but the detective is very clear that they brought 'Derek' in, not just some random. 😅

2022-09-16 13:11:26 +0000 UTCAn emotional roller coaster seems to be a natural response to a teen pregnancy while also trying to nagivate getting into college. So while I was mad at Nathan, I got it. It also set it up so that Nathan was put in exactly his father's shoes so he went through those same emotions his dad did but in the end he made the better choice. I think if he just automatically made the right choice it may have taken away from the storyline. He needed to process it and be put in that same position to be more impactful. At least in my opinion.

Some of the things seemed rushed because it's setting up a bigger storyline or tying into a bigger one, especially Nathan's, which is my favorite storyline of the season. Even though we got some big reveals in this epi, it kind of just set things up. There's a lot going on this season and lots more stuff to come. As far as Nathan's reaction, it was in character, despite the rushed aspect of the "storyline." Did he act like trash when he found out, yeah, but he also just found out and didn't have time to process. Even after all his growth I still don't think he handles situations the best. He has a lot more room for improvement. (Haley is very understanding of this and gives him room to make mistakes, but also at the same time calls him out on his shit giving him the right perspective. It's been like this since season 1. She knew what she took on.) Thank goodness he's still only 17 and there are 5 more seasons to go. A big theme with Nathan since season 1 is how he doesn't want to be his father. What this baby storyline does at least in this epi is play to that. It places Nathan in Dan's shoes. The Duke stuff wasn't about Duke, since by the end he didn't commit. It was about him processing, coming around and navigating this with Haley, being anti-Dan. Sometimes I think you forget this is a teen drama, so ofc it was dramatic and illogical with a press conference and everything. I loved it!
