I watched an interview with an old Disney star (can't remember who but it was someone from a show that came after Wizards, but still from a while back) that mentioned signing a 3 season contract at the beginning of a show. Also, at present time the 3 season rule is no longer the case since Disney Channel realized they can now retool shows with new cast members and keep them going: Bunk'd is on its 6th season and Raven's Home was just announced for a 6th season

2022-09-30 05:10:18 +0000 UTCAlso, it is very rare for even the most popular shows on Disney Channel to go past 3 seasons. That’s So Raven was the first show, followed by Hannah Montana and then Wizards, but 3 seasons is really the Disney Channel formula.

2022-09-28 13:34:33 +0000 UTCI always find the zack and Cody vs. on deck conversation so interesting because a lot of people that are only a couple of years younger than me prefer on deck, but I REALLY don’t. I actually think this is a much better show and even if the characters might be older on On Deck, the supporting cast around Zack and Cody is just incomparable. Season 1 feels like the beginning to any show really, just skewing young at first, but when we get into future episodes and seasons, idk, there’s just a feeling to it that is incomparable. Also, I know people always insist shows “get good” after Season 1, but there are SO MANY iconic and fun episodes in Season 1, so it’s all great for me idk

2022-09-27 14:13:24 +0000 UTCi think it's season 2 or 3 when the show picks up and there are great episodes. I love the reoccurring characters like Barbara. Especially the summer section of the show.

2022-09-27 04:45:38 +0000 UTCI think one thing to keep in mind is this show is only Disney Channel's 2nd multi cam sitcom. I feel like they were probably playing safe because they didn't know what would work. (For comparison, Wizards is the 5th) Also the jump in Wizards quality could simply be due to the fact that they had a full season under their belt and were more comfortable with the characters.
