It's kind of frightening when even Dan Scott is afraid of something or someone.

This episode is a really great set-up episode for the midseason finale next week. I am glad they ended Brooke and Lucas in a respectful way where they both just realise that their love is simply not strong enough, especially comparing it to Whitey's speech. I also love how Peyton respected Brooke and Lucas enough to not reveal her feelings before Brooke and Lucas are officially done with each other. As much as I hate that their friendship has evolved into this mean, bitter thing, I love that their throwing us breadcrumbs that both actually still care. As for Dan: I love that you assume Dan will just kill them, bc this is now in the realm of possibilities. But they threatened Haley, Karen and Deb and Dan is not gonna risk them, Nathan wouldn't either. Now Nathan really has no other choice. There is no telling what these guys would do, if Nathan decides to win anyway.

I think it was less them questioning if it exists, but more if it exists for them. And they came to the realisation that even though they don't have a real answer their shared relationship was never like that but that they hope the other person finds it with someone else.

I like this episode, it's one of the quieter ones but a lot happens. Its a pivotal episode if you are a Leyton fan. We finally see the end of Brucas or more closure on it anyway. And I liked that it ended in a thoughtful way and not with a fight that could be misconstrued. I never liked how spiteful Brooke is written this season. Its very tone deaf at times. Even if she thought that Peyton is the reason she broke up with Lucas, I find it hard to believe that Brooke would just stop caring about Peyton and what's going on with her this season. She's also so petty and mean. The takeout box and talking about Lucas like he's a piece of meat come to mind. It kind of gets a lot worse before it gets better unfortunately. I loved that Brooke got confirmation that Peyton kept her word about not going after Lucas if Brooke still had feelings for him. Sad to see Derek go but I love that he gave her the courage to finally tell Lucas' the truth. I hate the Dan and Karen stuff, just so out of character for Karen to look past Dan being Dan. He also continues to be father of the year with Nathan. Rachel is Rachel. She is never up to any good.

Brooke and Lucas questioning Whitey's speech about his love for his wife and if a love like that exists never fails to make me laugh when they both just gave similar speeches about Nathan and Haley's unalterable/unconditional love at their wedding reception. Anyway, great episode. Love Nathan's storyline. I liked how Nathan turned to Dan for help.
